January 26th, 2024
On January 26th, 2024, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from a north-end residence for a family dispute. A 20-year-old male from Gananoque was arrested and given a Provincial Offence Notice for Being intoxicated in public place. He was held until sober.
January 30th, 2024
On January 30th, 2024, in the early morning hours officers responded to a disturbance at an apartment building. Officers spoke to the resident who was evasive about parties within the apartment. After officers were given multiple fake names, a male’s correct identity was finally provided and it was determined that he was breaching numerous conditions of his probation and release order. As a result, a 27-year-old male from Lasalle, Quebec was arrested and charged with Obstruct peace officer, Failure to comply with release order, and Fail to comply with probation order. He was held for a show cause bail hearing.
February 5th, 2024
On February 5th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a domestic assault that occurred the previous week. An investigation was conducted, and as a result, a 32-year-old female from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Assault – Spousal. She was released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.
Recent Rise in Drug Poisonings
Due to the recent surge of drug poisonings in the area, the Gananoque Police Service and Leeds, Grenville, & Lanark Health Unit are urging residents to be cautious when using drugs and take safety precautions, such as:
• If you use alone: download the Brave App or call NORS Overdose prevention Hotline 1-888-688-6677 for confidential, nonjudgmental support for you, whenever and wherever you use drugs.
• Try to avoid using alone. Tell someone before you use and leave the door unlocked so someone can check on you
• When using with someone else, make a plan, don’t use at the same time
• Know your tolerance. Start low, Go slow
• Don’t mix drugs
• Know the quality of the drugs
• Know your health and body
• Carry Naloxone

Gananoque Police Service Officially Joins the Provincial Bail Compliance Dashboard - The Gananoque Police Service has onboarded onto the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Provincial Bail Compliance Dashboard (PBCD), aimed at monitoring and sharing information about individuals on bail for firearms-related offences and/or crimes against the person offences. - The PBCD is a situational awareness and investigative tool, managed by the OPP, that provides cross- jurisdictional and inter-agency data to assist Ontario’s police officers with managing individuals on bail in the community. - The dashboard provides critical information about offenders released on bail for a broader range of high-risk offender. On September 23, 2024, during the evening hours, officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver was unable to produce a valid driver’s licence. The individual was subsequently identified and found to be driving while suspended. Further investigation revealed the 39-year-old driver was also bound by a release order on unrelated charges, which included a curfew condition. The driver was arrested and searched, and officers located a knife and cash on their person. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a collapsible steel baton, a knife, a scale, a pipe, and approximately 29.6 grams of methamphetamine. As a result, the 39-year-old resident of Elgin was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking — methamphetamine, Possession of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order, Breach of Recognizance, and Driving While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act. On April 2, 2026, the accused was convicted of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking — methamphetamine, and Breach of Recognizance. The Ontario Court of Justice granted 213 days of pre-sentence custody credit for time served and imposed a suspended sentence with 18 months of probation. The accused was also issued a lifetime weapons prohibition.
