Feb 20th - March 8th 2026
February 20th, 2026
On February 20th, 2026, officers received a report of an assault that occurred on February
14th. The victim disclosed being assaulted by their partner after a verbal dispute in which the
victim attempted to leave. The accused threatened to kill the victim before further assaulting
them. As a result, on February 21st, a 41-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and
charged with Assault – spousal, Sexual assault and Uttering threats – cause death or bodily
harm. They were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
February 23rd, 2026
On February 16th, 2026, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of an assault that
occurred between neighbours. Officers attended and evidence showed a 63-year-old person
from Gananoque used their vehicle to approach a person on a bicycle, then using their door
to strike the victim. A warrant was sought and on February 23rd, 2026 the accused was
arrested and charged with Assault. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.
February 27th, 2026
On February 27th, 2026, officers while on patrol in the early morning hours observed a
vehicle parked outside a commercial business. After observing the vehicle leave, the officers
attended the business to check for suspicious activity and located two sets of footprints.
During the search for the suspects, break in tools and stolen items were located in proximity
of the business. The suspects were tracked extensively before being located attempting to
get a ride out of Gananoque.
As a result, a 31-year-old person from Kingston and a 43-year-old person from Kingston
were arrested and charged jointly with Break, Enter with intent to commit indictable offence
and Failure to comply with probation and Failure to comply with release order respectively.
They were released on an undertaking with conditions.
March 1st, 2026
On March 1st, 2026, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a dispute where a 31-year-
old person from Gananoque threatened their senior family member. The accused was under the influence of substances and belligerent with officer. The accused was arrested and charged with Utter threats – cause death or bodily harm and Fail to comply with probation
x2. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.
March 3rd, 2026
On March 3rd, 2026 in the early morning hours, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving
erratically. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver fled. The officers
disengaged and after an investigation, the driver was identified and a warrant was issued.
On March 5th, the accused attended the police station for their required probation
appointment. At that time they were taken into custody and the 31-year-old person from
Rideau Lakes was charged with:
Flight from peace officer, Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, Dangerous
operation, Failure to comply with undertaking x2, Failure to comply with release order,
Failure to comply with probation. They were held in custody pending a bail hearing.
March 5th, 2026
On January 4th, 2026, officers on patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the
early morning hours. The vehicle fled and officers disengaged due to road conditions. An
investigation was conducted, the driver was identified and a warrant was sought.
On March 5th, 2026, a neighbouring police agency located and arrested the 40-year-old driver from
Brockville who was transported to the Gananoque Police station and charged with Failure to
comply with release order. They were released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen
in court at a later date.
March 7th, 2026
On March 7th, 2026, the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 call of a vehicle striking
a light post. Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the collision to find the vehicle’s
airbags had deployed, the passenger had sustained an injury and both driver and passenger
showed signs of impairment. The 24-year-old person from Kingston was arrested and
transported to the station for further testing. As a result, they were charged with Operation
while impaired - alcohol and drugs and Operation while impaired - blood alcohol
concentration (80 plus). The driver was issued a mandatory 90-day license suspension and
the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
March 7th, 2026
On March 7th, 2026, officers responded to a residence for a report of a youth who had
assaulted two people. The 14-year-old youth from Gananoque was arrested and charged
with Assault x2. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.
March 8th, 2026
On March 8th, 2026, the Gananoque Police Service was contacted by a neighbouring agency
regarding the arrest of a 35-year-old person from Elgin on the strength of the service’s bench
warrant. They were transported to the station and held in custody for a show cause bail
hearing for the previously laid charges of Harassing communications and Fail to comply with
probation.

Gananoque Police Service Officially Joins the Provincial Bail Compliance Dashboard - The Gananoque Police Service has onboarded onto the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Provincial Bail Compliance Dashboard (PBCD), aimed at monitoring and sharing information about individuals on bail for firearms-related offences and/or crimes against the person offences. - The PBCD is a situational awareness and investigative tool, managed by the OPP, that provides cross- jurisdictional and inter-agency data to assist Ontario’s police officers with managing individuals on bail in the community. - The dashboard provides critical information about offenders released on bail for a broader range of high-risk offender. On September 23, 2024, during the evening hours, officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver was unable to produce a valid driver’s licence. The individual was subsequently identified and found to be driving while suspended. Further investigation revealed the 39-year-old driver was also bound by a release order on unrelated charges, which included a curfew condition. The driver was arrested and searched, and officers located a knife and cash on their person. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a collapsible steel baton, a knife, a scale, a pipe, and approximately 29.6 grams of methamphetamine. As a result, the 39-year-old resident of Elgin was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking — methamphetamine, Possession of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order, Breach of Recognizance, and Driving While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act. On April 2, 2026, the accused was convicted of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking — methamphetamine, and Breach of Recognizance. The Ontario Court of Justice granted 213 days of pre-sentence custody credit for time served and imposed a suspended sentence with 18 months of probation. The accused was also issued a lifetime weapons prohibition.
The Gananoque Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police Biker Enforcement Unit anticipate the presence of The Outlaw motorcycle gang members and their associates within the Town of Gananoque this coming February Friday the 13th, 2026. Ontario Motorcycle Gangs are among criminal organizations whose wide array of criminal activity can cause harm and victimization in communities across Ontario. Gananoque Police are reminding citizens that these events have occurred in the Town over the last few years with minimal disruption and are asked to contact police if you require police assistance. The Gananoque Police Service along with other outside agencies have taken proper precautions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of citizens and visitors of the Town of Gananoque.
On September 14, 2024, Gananoque Police Service officers, alongside the Gananoque Fire Service, responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a deliberately set residential fire in the Town of Gananoque. The investigation revealed that a 27-year-old individual became involved in a dispute with occupants of the residence and caused damage inside the home before leaving the property. Outside, the individual continued to act aggressively toward one person. The accused then returned to the residence, intentionally set a fire in the laundry room, and fled the scene. The fire spread rapidly throughout the home, forcing residents to flee for their safety. All occupants escaped without injury. Firefighters responded quickly and brought the fire under control; however, the residence sustained significant damage. Police located the accused a short time later and placed them under arrest. During the investigation, the accused provided a full confession, admitting to intentionally setting the fire using a gasoline-filled jerry can. The individual was charged with Arson – Disregard for Human Life, Arson – Damage to Property, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm. The accused was held in custody for a show cause bail hearing. In January 2026, after serving 479 days in pre-sentence custody, the accused was convicted of Arson – Disregard for Human Life. The Ontario Court of Justice imposed a sentence of 376 days of imprisonment, three years of probation, a lifetime weapons prohibition, and restitution totaling $336,000.
