Gananoque Police Service Officially Joins the Provincial Bail Compliance Dashboard

- The Gananoque Police Service has onboarded onto the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Provincial Bail Compliance Dashboard (PBCD), aimed at monitoring and sharing information about individuals on bail for firearms-related offences and/or crimes against the person offences.

- The PBCD is a situational awareness and investigative tool, managed by the OPP, that provides cross- jurisdictional and inter-agency data to assist Ontario’s police officers with managing individuals on bail in the community.

- The dashboard provides critical information about offenders released on bail for a broader range of high-risk offender. It significantly improves the monitoring of bail compliance, enhancing the safety of frontline officers and ensuring they can proactively respond to bail violations.

- The PBCD is available to all police services in Ontario, reinforcing a province-wide effort to strengthen bail compliance and enhance public safety through near real-time data and shared information.

Elgin Resident, 39, Receives Suspended Sentence in Drug Case

On September 23, 2024, during the evening hours, officers conducted a traffic stop and the driver was unable to produce a valid driver’s licence. The individual was subsequently identified and found to be driving while suspended. Further investigation revealed the 39-year-old driver was also bound by a release order on unrelated charges, which included a curfew condition.

The driver was arrested and searched, and officers located a knife and cash on their person. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a collapsible steel baton, a knife, a scale, a pipe, and approximately 29.6 grams of methamphetamine.

As a result, the 39-year-old resident of Elgin was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking — methamphetamine, Possession of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order, Breach of Recognizance, and Driving While Under Suspension under the Highway Traffic Act.

On April 2, 2026, the accused was convicted of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking — methamphetamine, and Breach of Recognizance. The Ontario Court of Justice granted 213 days of pre-sentence custody credit for time served and imposed a suspended sentence with 18 months of probation. The accused was also issued a lifetime weapons prohibition.

On February 20th, 2026, officers received a report of an assault that occurred on February

14th. The victim disclosed being assaulted by their partner after a verbal dispute in which the

victim attempted to leave. The accused threatened to kill the victim before further assaulting

them. As a result, on February 21st, a 41-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and

charged with Assault – spousal, Sexual assault and Uttering threats – cause death or bodily

harm. They were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

February 23rd, 2026

On February 16th, 2026, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of an assault that

occurred between neighbours. Officers attended and evidence showed a 63-year-old person

from Gananoque used their vehicle to approach a person on a bicycle, then using their door

to strike the victim. A warrant was sought and on February 23rd, 2026 the accused was

arrested and charged with Assault. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.

February 27th, 2026

On February 27th, 2026, officers while on patrol in the early morning hours observed a

vehicle parked outside a commercial business. After observing the vehicle leave, the officers

attended the business to check for suspicious activity and located two sets of footprints.

During the search for the suspects, break in tools and stolen items were located in proximity

of the business. The suspects were tracked extensively before being located attempting to

get a ride out of Gananoque.

As a result, a 31-year-old person from Kingston and a 43-year-old person from Kingston

were arrested and charged jointly with Break, Enter with intent to commit indictable offence

and Failure to comply with probation and Failure to comply with release order respectively.

They were released on an undertaking with conditions.

March 1 st, 2026

On March 1st, 2026, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a dispute where a 31-year-

old person from Gananoque threatened their senior family member. The accused was under the influence of substances and belligerent with officer. The accused was arrested and charged with Utter threats – cause death or bodily harm and Fail to comply with probation

x2. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

March 3 rd, 2026

On March 3rd, 2026 in the early morning hours, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving

erratically. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver fled. The officers

disengaged and after an investigation, the driver was identified and a warrant was issued.

On March 5th, the accused attended the police station for their required probation

appointment. At that time they were taken into custody and the 31-year-old person from

Rideau Lakes was charged with:

Flight from peace officer, Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code, Dangerous

operation, Failure to comply with undertaking x2, Failure to comply with release order,

Failure to comply with probation. They were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

March 5th, 2026

On January 4th, 2026, officers on patrol attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle in the

early morning hours. The vehicle fled and officers disengaged due to road conditions. An

investigation was conducted, the driver was identified and a warrant was sought.

On March 5 th, 2026, a neighbouring police agency located and arrested the 40-year-old driver from

Brockville who was transported to the Gananoque Police station and charged with Failure to

comply with release order. They were released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen

in court at a later date.

March 7th, 2026

On March 7th, 2026, the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 call of a vehicle striking

a light post. Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the collision to find the vehicle’s

airbags had deployed, the passenger had sustained an injury and both driver and passenger

showed signs of impairment. The 24-year-old person from Kingston was arrested and

transported to the station for further testing. As a result, they were charged with Operation

while impaired - alcohol and drugs and Operation while impaired - blood alcohol

concentration (80 plus). The driver was issued a mandatory 90-day license suspension and

the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

March 7th, 2026

On March 7th, 2026, officers responded to a residence for a report of a youth who had

assaulted two people. The 14-year-old youth from Gananoque was arrested and charged

with Assault x2. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

March 8th, 2026

On March 8th, 2026, the Gananoque Police Service was contacted by a neighbouring agency

regarding the arrest of a 35-year-old person from Elgin on the strength of the service’s bench

warrant. They were transported to the station and held in custody for a show cause bail

hearing for the previously laid charges of Harassing communications and Fail to comply with

probation.

The Gananoque Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police Biker Enforcement Unit anticipate

the presence of The Outlaw motorcycle gang members and their associates within the Town of

Gananoque this coming February Friday the 13th, 2026.

Ontario Motorcycle Gangs are among criminal organizations whose wide array of criminal activity can

cause harm and victimization in communities across Ontario.

Gananoque Police are reminding citizens that these events have occurred in the Town over the last

few years with minimal disruption and are asked to contact police if you require police assistance.

The Gananoque Police Service along with other outside agencies have taken proper precautions to

ensure the safety and wellbeing of citizens and visitors of the Town of Gananoque.

27-Year-Old Convicted of Arson Following Residential Fire with Occupants Inside

27-Year-Old Convicted of Arson Following Residential Fire with Occupants Inside

On September 14, 2024, Gananoque Police Service officers, alongside the Gananoque Fire Service, responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a deliberately set residential fire in the Town of Gananoque.

The investigation revealed that a 27-year-old individual became involved in a dispute with occupants of the residence and caused damage inside the home before leaving the property. Outside, the individual continued to act aggressively toward one person. The accused then returned to the residence, intentionally set a fire in the laundry room, and fled the scene.

The fire spread rapidly throughout the home, forcing residents to flee for their safety. All occupants escaped without injury. Firefighters responded quickly and brought the fire under control; however, the residence sustained significant damage.

Police located the accused a short time later and placed them under arrest. During the investigation, the accused provided a full confession, admitting to intentionally setting the fire using a gasoline-filled jerry can.

The individual was charged with Arson – Disregard for Human Life, Arson – Damage to Property, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, and Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm. The accused was held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

In January 2026, after serving 479 days in pre-sentence custody, the accused was convicted of Arson – Disregard for Human Life. The Ontario Court of Justice imposed a sentence of 376 days of imprisonment, three years of probation, a lifetime weapons prohibition, and restitution totaling $336,000.

Join Us for “Coffee with a Cop” – Building Connections for Crime Prevention Week

The Gananoque Police Service is inviting members of the community to join us for Coffee

with a Cop on Thursday, November 6th, between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. at

McDonald’s Gananoque, as part of Crime Prevention Week 2025.

This year’s provincial theme, “Working Together to Protect Ontario,” highlights the

importance of collaboration and open communication in building safe, connected

communities. Coffee with a Cop offers residents the opportunity to meet local officers and

civilians in an informal, friendly setting — no speeches, no agenda, just conversations over

coffee.

Whether you have questions about community safety, want to learn more about crime

prevention, or simply want to say hello, this event is a great chance to connect with the

officers and police civilians who serve Gananoque every day.

On July 23rd, 2023, officers on patrol observed a vehicle being operated with licence plates registered to a different vehicle. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver failed to stop, driving at a high rate of speed. As a result, officers terminated the traffic stop. Officers were able to identify the driver who had been residing at a local motel, and amongst the suspects property, officers located a handgun and a substance that later proved to be fentanyl. A warrant was issued and on September 19th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service was notified that the 48-year-old suspect was in custody with another service on separate charges. The accused was arrested and charged with:

Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order

Flight from peace officer

Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm

Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

Knowledge of unauthorized possession of weapon

Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo

They were held in custody pending a show cause bail hearing.

September 21st, 2025

On September 21st, 2025, officer received information of a person in custody breaching their Non-Communication Order by contacting the victim of the domestic incident. On October 2nd, 2025, the 48-year-old person from Joyceville was issued a summons and charged with Failure to comply with an order.

September 22nd, 2025

On September 22nd, 2025, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call for an assault. The victim sustained injuries including contusions, cuts and a clump of hair pulled from their head. The suspect fled when the victim dialed 9-1-1, and a warrant was issued for the suspect. On September 29th, 2025, the 53-year-old person from Kingston was located and arrested by Kingston Police and turned over the Gananoque Police. They were charged with Assault and held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

September 23rd, 2025

On August 7th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a fraud of a local business. The investigation revealed that a person had worked briefly at the business had altered a cheque issued in their name and defrauded the business out of approximately $2700 dollars. On September 23rd, 2025, the 43-year-old person from Brockville was arrested and charged with Fraud under $5000 and Utter forged document. The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions.

September 25th, 2025

On August 4th, 2025, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle, and issued a 48-hour report for the driver failing to surrender their insurance. The driver failed to provide their insurance in the allotted 48-hour time limit. As a result, the officer issued a Part III Provincial Court Summons for operating a motor vehicle with no insurance. On September 25th, 2025, the officer received an email from the driver containing a copy of their insurance. That document was confirmed to be forged and the 39-year-old driver from Gananoque was charged criminally with Forgery and Use, deals, acts on forged document. They were released on an appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date.

September 26th, 2025

On September 26th, 2025, officers responded to a report of an assault that had just occurred. Officers found the victim with visible injuries, and the suspect was located in a nearby residence. As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old person from Tyendinaga was arrested and charged with Assault and Failure to comply with release order. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

October 2nd, 2025

On October 2nd, 2025, officers responded to an assault, and upon arrival, officers observed a staff member with visible injuries. A 12-year-old youth from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Assault, Failure to comply with release order, Failure to comply with undertaking x4, and Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

October 9th, 2025

On September 11th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of intimate partner violence that had occurred a few days prior. An investigation was conducted and statements were taken from both parties and as a result, the 26-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with Assault with a weapon, and the 34-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with Assault. Both Accuseds’ were released on undertakings with conditions, including not to be in contact with one another.

October 10th, 2025

On October 10th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a break and enter that in the early evening at a business. Items taken which included laptops and other tech accessories totaled approx. $2500. The accused was identified shortly after by police and arrested. The 25-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with Theft under $5000. They were released on an undertaking with conditions and the property was recovered and returned back to the business.

E-Bike Rules And Safety

The Gananoque Police Service is reminding residents about the rules and safety requirements for operating e-bikes in Ontario. As e-bikes continue to grow in popularity, it’s important for riders to understand the laws that help keep everyone safe on the road.

E-bikes are permitted on most roads and in designated bike lanes, but they are not allowed on sidewalks or 400-series highways. Riders must be at least 16 years old, and wearing an approved bicycle or motorcycle helmet is mandatory at all times.

To be considered legal in Ontario, an e-bike must:

Have an electric motor not exceeding 500 watts

Have a maximum assisted speed of 32 km/h

Include functioning bicycle pedals

Weigh no more than 120 kg (including the bike and battery)

Be equipped with two independent braking systems

While e-bike riders are not required to have a driver’s licence, registration, or insurance, they must follow all the same traffic laws as cyclists, including those related to impaired driving. Municipalities may also have additional restrictions, so riders are encouraged to check local regulations before heading out.

E-bikes that do not meet these requirements are not considered legal for use on any public roadway or bike lane. These vehicles may only be operated on private property with the property owner’s permission.

On June 12th, 2025, officers received a report of a theft of the complainant’s cellphone and laptop

valuing approximately $7000.00. A 30-year-old person from Lansdowne was identified and

subsequently charged with Theft over $5000 and Possession property obtained by crime over $5000.

They were released on and undertaking with conditions. The stolen items were recovered and

returned to the owner.

June 24th, 2025

On June 24th, 2025, officers received a report of a family dispute where a family member threatened

to kill the other. Due to the victim fearing for their life, an 80-year-old person from Gananoque was

arrested and charged with Uttering threats to cause death. They were released on an undertaking

with conditions.

July 1st, 2025

On July 1st, 2025, a report was made to police disclosing multiple incidents of intimate partner

violence. As a result, a 35-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Assault –

spousal and Mischief under $5000. They were released on an undertaking with extensive conditions.

July 1st, 2025

On July 1st, 2025, officers responded to a break and enter in progress at a residence. Upon arrival,

damage was found in the residence, and the suspect was located and arrested. A 41-year-old person

from Gananoque was charged with Unlawfully in dwelling house and Mischief under $5000. They

were released on an undertaking with conditions.

July 8th, 2025

On July 8th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received information of a person known to be

breaching their release conditions. As a result, a 30-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested

and charged with Failure to comply with release order. They were held in custody for a show cause

bail hearing.

July 10th, 2025

On July 10th, 2025, officers received information of a theft. The suspect was located by officers, but

was non-compliant during the arrest. As a result, a 41-year-old person from Gananoque was charged

with Resist peace officer x2. They were released on an appearance notice.

July 11th, 2025

On July 11th, 2025, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call for an adult person that was potentially taken

from the residence against their will. Officers were able to locate the victim, who was unharmed and

had left the residence with a friend. When found by police, they were no longer with the friend, but in

the company of a person who was on conditions not to have contact with them. As a result, a 35-

year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Failure to comply with undertaking

and held in custody for a show cause hearing. The victim returned home safely.

July 13th, 2025

On July 13th, 2025, a complainant reported a person breaking into multiple apartment units. The

suspect used a screwdriver to gain entry to any secure apartments. The suspect was located and

placed under arrest. The 41-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with:

• Failure to comply with undertaking x2

• Mischief under $5000 x2

• Break, enter a dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence

They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing but later released on a release order by the

court.

The day after their release on July 15th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a

break and enter to a residence where the homeowner had been threatened with a screwdriver. The

suspect then fled the scene and used a family member’s vehicle without permission to escape. A

warrant was sought for the 41-year-old person from Gananoque who was located later that day and

arrested. As a result, they were charged with:

• Mischief under $5000

• Take motor vehicle without consent

• Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm

• Failure to comply with release order x3

• Failure to comply with undertaking

They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing and remanded into custody until their next

court date.

May 22nd, 2025 On April 16th, 2025, officers with the Gananoque Police Service observed a vehicle being operated by an individual known to be prohibited from driving. The vehicle and driver were located shortly thereafter at a local gas station, where officers approached to initiate contact. Upon being approached, the 33-year-old Frankville resident attempted to flee. A physical altercation ensued, during which the suspect resisted police control and upon entering their vehicle, deliberately rammed a police vehicle to evade arrest. In the interest of public safety, officers did not engage in pursuit as the suspect fled the scene.

Following an ongoing investigation and in collaboration with a neighbouring police service, the suspect was located on May 22, 2025, at an establishment. A police interaction occurred, the individual was taken into custody without further incident. As a result, the individual has been charged with the following offences: • Assault with a weapon x2 • Assault with intent to resist arrest • Dangerous operation • Fail to comply with probation order x2 • Failure to stop after accident • Flight from peace officer, Mischief Over $5,000 • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code x5 The accused was held in custody for a show cause bail hearing. The Gananoque Police Service would like to thank our partner agency for their assistance in safely locating and apprehending the suspect.

On May 1st, 2025, officers on general patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically and disobeying road signs. A traffic stop was conducted and officers quickly observed the driver to be showing signs of impairment, and registered a fail during the roadside breath demand. The 45-year-old person from Roblin was arrested and transported to the station for further testing. As a result, they were charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mgs plus and Failure or refusal to comply with demand. They were released on an undertaking with conditions and a mandatory 90-day license suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

May 1st, 2025

On May 1st, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a vehicle that had travelled at a high rate of speed, taking a dangerous turn into a local business, almost striking the building and a pedestrian. The driver was stopped and detained by the RCMP until officers arrived, and a 24-year-old person from Montreal was arrested and charged with Dangerous operation. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.

May 3rd, 2025

On May 3rd, 2025, an officer on general patrol observed a driver operating a vehicle without their seatbelt. The driver had difficulty maintaining their lane, erratically braking and accelerating. It was believed the driver was intoxicated. The officer attempted a traffic stop however the driver fled from police. An investigation was conducted and the driver was identified. On May 4th, the 19-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Dangerous operation and Flight from peace officer. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.

May 7th, 2025

On May 7th, 2025, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call for a report of intimate partner violence. Further investigation revealed the accused had thrown a bag of garbage at the victim, and damaged their property. Officers arrested the 47-year-old person from Gananoque and they were charged with Assault – spousal, Mischief – domestic, Fail to comply with probation order. They were held in custody awaiting a show cause hearing.

May 8th, 2025

On May 8th, 2025, officers on patrol observed a person attending a residence that they were on conditions not to attend. They were also in the company of a person they were not to be in contact with. As a result, a 33-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with two counts of Fail to comply with probation order. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing. May 9th, 2025 On May 9th, 2025, officers responded to a 9-1-1 report of an assault that occurred outside a business in a vehicle. The suspect had left the scene, but was located shortly after. Further investigation resulted in the 27-year-old person from Gananoque being charged with Assault – spousal. They were released on an undertaking with conditions not to be in contact with the victim. May 13th, 2025 On May 13th, 2025, officers on patrol observed a known suspended driver operating a vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and their suspension was confirmed. The 30-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Operation while prohibited under the criminal code and Fail to comply with probation order. They were released on an undertaking with conditions. May 15th, 2025 On May 15th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received a traffic complaint of a vehicle stopping intermittently in the roadway and the driver throwing a vodka bottle from the window. The vehicle and driver were located and after failing the roadside breath demand, they were arrested and transported to the station for further testing. The 82-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mgs plus and Operation while impaired – alcohol/drugs. They were released on an undertaking with conditions and a mandatory 90-day license suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days. May 16th, 2025 On May 16th, 2025, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving at an excessive speed. It was determined that the driver had an outstanding warrant from a neighbouring service. They were placed under arrest on the strength of the warrant - they also exhibited signs of impairment. The 56-year-old from Johnstown was transported to the station for further testing. They were charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mgs plus and Operation while impaired – alcohol/drugs. They were released on an undertaking with conditions and a mandatory 90-day license suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days. May 18th, 2025 On May 18th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a person attempting to stab the caller with scissors. Officers responded and as a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Assault with a weapon – spousal, and Failure to comply with undertaking. They were held in custody for a show case bail hearing. No one has the right to abuse another person. On January 14th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of an intoxicated driver. Officers located the vehicle and driver and a roadside screening device was conducted. The 29-year-old person from Kingston provided a breath sample which resulted in a 3-day driving suspension.

January 16th, 2025

On January 16th, 2025, officers on patrol observed a vehicle swerving into the opposite lane, driving at a low rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver showed signs of impairment. A roadside screening device was conducted resulting in a fail. The 31-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and after further tests, they were charged with Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). They were released on an undertaking with conditions, received a 90-day driving suspension and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

January 20th, 2025

On November 29th, 2024, a warrant was issued for a 35-year-old person from Gananoque for failing to attend court. On January 20th, 2025, officers on patrol located and arrested the person. They were charged with Failure to attend court after having appeared and held for a show cause bail hearing.

January 21st, 2025

On January 21st, 2025, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driven by a person believed to be unlicensed. A traffic stop was conducted and it was determined the driver did not hold a valid license. They were also found to be breaching their probation by driving a vehicle without an interlock ignition device and not carrying a copy of their probation order. As a result, the 26-year-old person from Lansdowne was arrested and charged with two counts of Fail to comply with probation and given one Provincial Offence Notice for Drive motor vehicle - no license. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.

January 21st, 2025

On January 21st, 2025, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically. Officers conducted a traffic stop, and while speaking with the driver, open alcohol was observed in the vehicle and the driver showed signs of impairment. A roadside screening device was conducted resulting in a fail. The 61-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and after tests, they were charged with Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). They were released on an undertaking with conditions, received a 90-day driving suspension and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

January 22nd, 2025

On January 22nd, 2025, officers located a 35-year-old person from Ottawa with several outstanding warrants. They were arrested and charged with three counts of Fail to comply with probation and Fail to comply with appearance notice. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

January 23rd, 2025

On January 17th, 2025, a bench warrant was issued by the court for a 61-year-old person from Gananoque who had failed to attend court. On January 23rd, 2025, the accused attended the station where they were arrested and charged with Fail to attend court – as per undertaking. They were later released on an appearance notice.

January 24th, 2025

On January 24th, 2025, officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with obscured plates. The driver was found to be prohibited from driving, and after officers arrested the 42-year-old person from Brockville, a search revealed a set of brass knuckles on their person. As a result, they were arrested and charged with Operation while prohibited and Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose. They were released on an appearance notice, the vehicle was impounded for 45 days, and the license plates were seized as they were found to be fake.

January 26th, 2025

On November 25th, 2024, a warrant was issued for a 32-year-old person from Gananoque for failing to comply with probation. On January 26th, 2025, a neighbouring police service located and arrested the person who was then transferred to Gananoque officers’ custody. They were charged with two counts of Fail to comply with probation, and released on an appearance notice.

On January 3rd, 2025, a warrant was issued for a 61-year-old person from Gananoque for failing to attend for fingerprints and failing to comply with their undertaking. That same day, the person was arrested, fingerprinted, and released on an undertaking with conditions.

On January 3rd, 2025, a warrant was issued for a 43-year-old person from Gananoque for failing to attend for fingerprints as required by their undertaking. On January 14th, 2025, officers located and arrested the person, where they were fingerprinted that day, and released on an appearance notice.

January 4th, 2025

On January 4th, 2025, officers conducting follow-up on an occurrence observed a 61-year-old person and a 52-year-old person breaching their release conditions by being in each other’s company. As a result, they were arrested and charged with Failure to comply with undertaking. They were released on an appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date.

January 8th, 2025

On January 8th, 2025, while conducting a compliance check, a 50-year-old person from Gananoque was found to be breaching their release conditions by being outside of their approved residence after curfew. They were arrested and charged with two counts of Failure to comply with release order. They were released on an appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date.

January 11th, 2025

On November 29th, 2024, officers responded to a report of a person intentionally kicking the owner’s e-bike, causing approximately $1500 worth of damage. An investigation was conducted and as a result, on January 11th, 2025, a 33-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Mischief under $5000. They were released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

January 11th, 2025

On January 11th, 2025, officers on patrol observed a 46-year-old person from Addison that had an outstanding DNA warrant. A traffic stop was conducted, and they were placed under arrest. A search revealed a quantity of methamphetamine and an open container of alcohol which resulted in a charge for Possession of schedule I substance – methamphetamine charge and a Provincial Offence Notice for Drive motor vehicle – open container of liquid. The DNA warrant was executed, and they were released on an undertaking with conditions.

January 14th, 2025

On January 14th, 2025, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of an assault that took place on January 11th. The complainant reported that a family member grabbed them by the throat and held a knife to it. As a result, a 43-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Assault with a weapon, and Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

Arrest Made in Arson Investigation

In the early morning hours of December 29th, 2024, at approximately 2:45 am, the Gananoque Police and Fire Departments received a call for service regarding a fire in the area of Center Street at Tanner Street. The investigation revealed that the fire was intentionally set. Despite there being no physical injuries and relatively minor damage to the home, police continued to investigate. On December 30th, 2024, officers were able to identify and arrest a 28-year-old person from Gananoque. They were charged with Arson - Cause Damage to Property and Possession of Incendiary Material and were held for a show cause bail hearing.

The Gananoque Police Service would like to thank members of the public who assisted police by providing home video surveillance footage. This assistance allowed for a timely outcome to the investigation. Police are confident that this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to public safety.

On October 31st, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a statue that had been stolen from Horticultural Society Park. The statue was 4 feet tall, made of brass, and was a tribute to Gaye "Noel" Bullock. It was valued at approximately $10,000 dollars.

And investigation was conducted, and it was determined that the statue had been cut into pieces and sold for scrap for a value of $126.00 dollars.

As a result, on December 3rd, 2024, a 52-year-old person from Gananoque and a 61-year-old person from Gananoque were arrested and charged with: Theft over $5000, and Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.

October 31st, 2024

And investigation was conducted, and it was determined that the statue had been cut into pieces and sold for scrap for a value of $126.00 dollars.

November 20th, 2024

On November 20th, 2024, a warrant was issued for a 35-year-old person from Ottawa for failing to report to their probation officer as required. On November 25th, 2024, the accused was arrested by a neighbouring police service, and charged with Failure to comply with probation order. They were released on an appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date.

November 22nd, 2024

On November 22nd, 2024, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving in a dangerous manner. During the stop, the driver was observed to be under the influence of drugs. A search was conducted and as a result, the 40-year-old person from Kingston was charged with two Provincial Offence Notices for Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available, and Driver fail to surrender license.

November 22nd, 2024

On November 22nd, 2024, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a 16-year-old person intoxicated in the residence and being violent with residents. Upon arrival, the person was found outside the residence while under the influence of alcohol, and was belligerent with police. They were arrested and charged with a Provincial Offence Notice for Being intoxicated in a public place. They were released when sober.

November 27th, 2024

On November 27th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 hang-up call, and as per policy, officers attended the residence where a family dispute was ongoing. Officers identified the one occupant who had been previously trespassed from the property. The person became aggressive with officers, and was arrested for breach of the peace and trespassing. The 43-year-old person from Kingston was charged with Resist peace officer. They were released on an undertaking with conditions.

December 4th, 2024

On December 4th, 2024, officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle containing two occupants. One occupant provided a verbal identification that was later proven to be false. They were also found to be breaching their conditional sentence order. As a result, a 39-year-old person from Kingston was arrested and charged with Obstruct peace officer, and Possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine. They were released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

December 4th, 2024

On December 4th, 2024, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was observed to be under the influence of alcohol. MISUNDERSTANDING LEADS TO REPORT OF BOMB THREAT

Investigation Confirms There Was No Real Threat (LANSDOWNE, ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has confirmed that a potential bomb threat directed toward Thousand Islands Elementary School (TIES) was not real.

The Gananoque Police Service (GPS) had been investigating a dispute involving young individuals on Thursday, November 7, 2024, when it was reported that one of the youths had indicated they were aware of a threat directed toward the school.

As a precaution Thousand Islands Elementary School and Gananoque Intermediate Secondary School were placed under a Hold-and-Secure procedure while the investigation was conducted. The OPP and Gananoque Police determined that the report of a threat was unfounded and had been a miscommunication.

Public safety is paramount, and the OPP takes all threats seriously.

Police want to remind everyone that words matter, and some words can have serious impacts.

Arrest Made in Arson Case – September 14th, 2024

On September 14th, 2024, the Gananoque Police and Fire Dispatch received multiple 9-1-1 calls for a structure fire at a residence on Garden Street.

Firefighters attended and aggressively fought the fire, preventing damage to neighbouring homes, and extinguishing it.

As a result of multiple witness statements and evidence found at the scene, the Gananoque Police Service initiated a criminal investigation surrounding the circumstances of the fire. As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old person from Gananoque was located and arrested and charged with: Arson - Disregard for Human Life, Arson - Damage to Property, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Uttering Threats - Cause death or Bodily Harm.

They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

L ocal Police Officers Take Kids Fishing

Police officers from the Gananoque Police Service as well as other Law Enforcement

agencies will help kids cast a line and have a whole lot of fun during the Kids, Cops and

Canadian Tire Fishing Day on Sunday August 11 th , 2024.

The derby, which is sponsored by Canadian Tire Gananoque, Baldrees No Frills,

Gananoque Police Association and Service, Police Association of Ontario, Gananoque

Fire Service, Thousand Islands Boat Museum, The Worm Guy, WamBaits Canada,

Limestone Lures, will take place from 9am to 12pm at Joel Stone Park.

Registration will occur under the stage at Joel Stone Park pavilion. There will be

multiple agencies in attendance including R.C.M.P, O.P.P, Coast Guard, Ministry of

Natural Resources, Canada Border Services, Oceans and Fisheries, Parks Canada all

showing off their boats.

Learn to Fish will also be in attendance with their mobile unit to teach all the

fundamentals of fishing and becoming an angler. Face painting and other activities

along with lunch is provided.

This event is supported by the Canadian National Sportfishing Foundation, a not-for-

profit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting recreational fishing for all

Canadians, and by the generous financial contribution of Canadian Tire.

Project Lifesaver is the premier search and rescue program operated internationally by public safety

lives and reduce potential injury for adults and children with the propensity to wander due to a

The summons was served, charging them with one count of Failure to comply with probation, to be seen in court at a later date.

On May 19th, 2024, officers received a report of a theft that had occurred at a residence while the resident was at work. Some items were recovered by the resident, and the suspect was identified. As a result, a 31-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Theft under $5000, Failure to comply with probation order and two counts of Failure to comply with release order. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

May 27th, 2024

On May 27th, 2024, officers received a report of a forged prescription faxed to a local pharmacy. The person attended the pharmacy to pick-up the prescription, and they were arrested. The 20-year-old person from Gloucester was charged with Use, deals, acts on forged document, and Failure to comply with undertaking. They were released on an undertaking with conditions. A search warrant for the person’s vehicle was obtained, and the findings from the vehicle resulted in further charges of: Fraud under $5000, Utter forged document, Possession schedule I substance – opioid x 2, and Failure to comply with undertaking.

May 28th, 2024

On May 28th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a warrant issued by Kingston Probation and Parole for a 45-year-old person from Gananoque who had breached their probation conditions. On June 4th, the person was located and arrested, they were charged with one count of Failure to comply with probation. They were released on an appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date.

May 30th, 2024

On May 30th, 2024, officers responded to a verbal altercation at a residence. Upon arrival, it was determined that one person was breaching their conditions by being with the other occupant of the residence. A 35-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Failure to comply with undertaking and released on an appearance notice.

May 31st, 2024

On May 31st, 2024, officers on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically. Upon stopping the vehicle, officers speaking with the driver observed signs of impairment. A roadside alcotest was conducted, resulting in a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to the station for further testing. As a result, the 66-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). They were released on an appearance notice, received a 90-day administrative license suspension and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

June 4th, 2024

On June 4th, 2024, officers on patrol observed a possible verbal altercation at a local motel. The occupants then left the premise and a traffic stop was conducted. Upon identifying the driver and passenger, it was determined that the passenger was breaching their conditions. As a result, the 53-year-old person from Plainfield was arrested and charged with Failure to comply with release order, and Failure to comply with undertaking. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

June 5th, 2024

On June 5th, 2024, officers responded to a restaurant with a driver showing signs of impairment in the drive-thru. The driver was given a roadside alcotest by officers, who also observed signs of impairment, resulting in a fail. They were arrested and transported to the station for further testing. The 71-year-old person from Gananoque was charged with Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). They were released on an appearance notice, received a 90-day administrative license suspension and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

June 7th, 2024

On June 7th, 2024, officers received information of a youth breaching their conditions and not abiding by the surety’s rules. That evening the youth attended the station to turn themselves in. They were arrested and charged with Failure to comply with release order and held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

June 8th, 2024

On June 8th, 2024, officers responded to a domestic dispute in progress, upon arrival of police, the suspect fled from the residence. The victim was assessed by paramedics, and officers patrolled and located the suspect. A 35-year-old person from Gananoque was arrested and charged with: Assault – spousal x 3, Forcible confinement, Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate, or strangle another person, Failure to comply with probation order x 4. They were held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

On March 19th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of extortion valuing approximately $9,200 dollars taken from the victim. An extensive investigation was conducted that resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old person from Lansdowne and a 15-year-old person from Kingston. They were charged with Extortion, and released on an Undertaking with conditions.

March 21st, 2024

On March 21st, 2024, officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in progress. Upon arrival, officer observed damage to the residence’s door and a vehicle’s windshield. The suspect had departed but was located a short distance away. The 35-year-old person from Gananoque was place under arrest and charged with Assault – spousal, Mischief under $5000, and Fail to comply with probation order. They were held for a show cause bail hearing.

March 26th, 2024

On March 26th, 2024, officers on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The driver failed to produce identification and instead provided multiple false verbal identities. The driver and passenger were arrested, and during a search of both parties, officers located 9grams of methamphetamine, 23 Dilauded pills, 15 codeine pills, a folding knife, pepper spray, and drug paraphernalia. As a result, a 31-year-old person from Loyalist Township was charged with Failure to comply with undertaking x2, Obstruct peace officer, Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, and Possession of a schedule I substance – other drugs. The 28-year-old person from Kingston was charged with Fail to comply with probation order, Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order x2, Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, Possession of a schedule I substance – other drugs, and Possession of a schedule II substance – other drugs. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions.

April 1st, 2024

On April 1st, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a person refusing to leave a premise. Officers attended, and while speaking with the 53-year-old person from Gananoque, they became irate and threatened to burn down the premise, and harm others. As a result, they were arrested and charged with Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm. They were release on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

April 13th, 2024

On April 13th, 2024, officers on patrol observed a vehicle fail to stop at a red light. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified and confirmed to be a suspended driver. The passenger was identified and found to have a valid drivers license. Upon exiting the vehicle, a weapon was observed on the passenger, who was on a weapons prohibition. As a result, a 32-year-old-person from Toronto was arrested and a further search uncovered: 45grams of cocaine, 5.95grams of MDMA, and a 9” spring loaded knife. April 20th, 2024

On April 20th, 2024, officers responded to a report of a person in possible medical distress in the early morning hours. Upon arrival, a vehicle was observed in the middle of an intersection, with the engine accelerating at a high RPM, and smelled of burning. The lone occupant was slumped over the steering wheel, and was eventually roused by police. Officers observed severe signs of impairment, and the 64-year-old person from Kingston was placed under arrest. After further testing, they were charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions and a mandatory 90-day license suspension. The vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

April 20th, 2024

On April 20th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 call of a domestic dispute in progress. Officers arrived and an investigation was conducted, resulting in a 47-year-old person from Kingston to be arrested and charged with Mischief – destroys or damages property, Assault – spousal x 2, and Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person. The accused was released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

April 20th, 2024

On April 20th, 2024, a 53-year-old person from Gananoque was located at an address that they were on previous conditions to not attend. The person was arrested and their actions post-arrest resulted in the following charges: Failure to comply with undertaking, False alarm of fire, and Mischief – destroys or damages property. They were held for a show cause bail hearing.

April 21st, 2024

On April 9th, 2024, a 31-year-old person from Gananoque failed to attend court as required. As a result, a bench warrant was issued. On April 21st, 2024, officers responded to a residence where the wanted person was located and arrested. They were held for a show cause bail hearing.

On March 4th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service conducted an investigation after receiving a report of a 28-year-old person who had breached their probation conditions. As a result, on March 7th, 2024, the person was arrested by officers and charged with Fail to comply with probation x2, and Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm x2. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions.

March 4th, 2024

On June 30th, 2021, officers responded to multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a person driving dangerously, nearly striking pedestrians and stealing a vehicle from a business parking lot. The person fled Westbound on the 401 Highway, before intentionally striking a police cruiser from a neighbouring service. The person was involved in multiple pursuits that were all terminated due to the manner the individual was driving, before being stopped via a tire deflation device. The person then fled on foot but was apprehended by a K9 Unit.

The 47-year-old individual from Maynooth was charged by the Gananoque Police Service with Theft over $5000, Failure to comply with release order x 2, Dangerous operation, Operation while prohibited under the criminal code x 6. They were held in custody by the neighbouring jurisdiction so a warrant was sought, and on March 3rd, 2024, that warrant was executed at a detention center. The individual was held in custody for a show cause bail hearing.

March 7th, 2024

On February 2nd, 2024, officers received a report of thefts that occurred at a Gananoque business in December 2023. An investigation was conducted and as a result, a 36-year-old individual from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Theft under $5000 x 3. They were released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

March 14th, 2024

On March 14th, 2024, officers responded to a report of a person walking on King Street who was a suspect of a break and enter that occurred the previous day in the Ontario Provincial Police’s jurisdiction. The 33-year-old person was arrested and transported to the station until OPP attended to assume ownership of the arrest.

On February 27th the Gananoque Police Service with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police

executed a search warrant at a residence in the Town of Gananoque. While conducting a search, Police

located a loaded 9mm handgun as well as a quantity of Fentanyl, Cocaine, Crystal Methamphetamine,

and Canadian Currency.

As a result of this investigation a 23-year-old male from Quebec has been charged with; Possession of a

Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of Trafficking X3, Possession of a Schedule 1 substance X3,

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted

firearm, Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a loaded prohibited or

restricted firearm, Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order, Fail to Comply with

Probation Order X3.

The individual was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On February 27th the Gananoque Police Service conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the Town of

Gananoque. Upon further investigation it was revealed that two of the passengers in the motor vehicle

had outstanding warrants from another Police Service. Officers placed the parties under arrest on the

strength of their outstanding warrants. A search was conducted which revealed amounts of Fentanyl and

Crystal Methamphetamine. Police then conducted a search of the vehicle and located a bag containing a

large quantity of suspected illegal drugs, as well as pistol grip shotgun.

In total, Police seized approximately 483 grams of confirmed fentanyl with an approximate street value of

over $100,000, as well as a pistol grip tactical shotgun.

As a result, a number of charges have been laid;

A 39-year-old male from Sudbury has been charged with; Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the

purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,

Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous

Purpose, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine.

A 37-year-old female from Timmons has been charged with; Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for

the purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, Unauthorized Possession of a

Firearm, Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a

Dangerous Purpose.

A 40-year-old male from Sudbury has been charged with; Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the

purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,

Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous

Purpose Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order.

A 29-year-old female from Sudbury has been charged with; Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the

purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,

Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous

Purpose.

A 28-year-old female from Gananoque was charged with; Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the

purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm,

Knowledge of an Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous

Purpose.

All individuals were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On January 26th, 2024, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call from a north-end residence for a family dispute. A 20-year-old male from Gananoque was arrested and given a Provincial Offence Notice for Being intoxicated in public place. He was held until sober.

January 30th, 2024

On January 30th, 2024, in the early morning hours officers responded to a disturbance at an apartment building. Officers spoke to the resident who was evasive about parties within the apartment. After officers were given multiple fake names, a male’s correct identity was finally provided and it was determined that he was breaching numerous conditions of his probation and release order. As a result, a 27-year-old male from Lasalle, Quebec was arrested and charged with Obstruct peace officer, Failure to comply with release order, and Fail to comply with probation order. He was held for a show cause bail hearing.

February 5th, 2024

On February 5th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a domestic assault that occurred the previous week. An investigation was conducted, and as a result, a 32-year-old female from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Assault – Spousal. She was released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

Brace yourself as volunteers from emergency services and local businesses plunge into the icy waters of the St. Lawrence River.

We're braving the cold for a fantastic cause! Together, we aim to raise funds to support over 26,000 athletes across the Province through the Special Olympics. We welcome community members to watch and cheer on our

On January 5th, 2024, the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a theft of property totaling approximately $200.00. An investigation was conducted and as a result, a 51-year-old male from Gananoque was identified and arrested. He was charged with Theft under $5000, and Possession property obtained by crime under $5000. The male was released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

January 5th, 2024

On January 5th, 2024, a 36-year-old male from Ottawa, who had an outstanding warrant, turned himself in at the Gananoque Police station. He was charged with Fail to comply with release order, and released on an appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date.

January 9th, 2024

On January 9th, 2024, a warrant was issued by Kingston Probation and Parole for a male who had failed to report to his probation officer as required. On January 15th, 2024, officers on patrol located the male, who was arrested on the strength of the warrant. As a result, he was charged with Fail to comply with probation. The 45-year-old male from Gananoque was released on an appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date.

January 13th, 2024

On January 13th, 2024, officers responded to a Gananoque apartment for a report of a noise complaint. It was determined upon arrival that the resident hadn’t been seen in approximately 5 days. Entry was gained and the resident was located, in a medical crisis. Paramedics attended and the resident was transported to hospital for further treatment.

January 15th, 2024

On January 15th, 2024 officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at a local residence for a report of a youth assaulting other residents. As a result, the youth was charged with Assault and Utter Threats and was held for a show cause bail hearing.

January 23rd, 2024

On January 23rd, 2024, officers responded to a business for a male being assaultive and damaging property. Upon arrival, it was found that the male had pulled a fire alarm and discharged a fire extinguisher causing others to believe there was an active fire. The premise was checked and cleared by the Gananoque Fire Department. The 73-year-old male from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Mischief – destroys or damages property, False alarm of fire, and Assault with a weapon. He was held for a show cause hearing.

From 6:00 pm to 2:00 am, we'll come together to address the critical need for shelter, inspired by the innovative concept introduced by the Gananoque Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army has been on the front lines, providing warmth, hot showers, and vital services to local unhoused individuals by funding rooms. Now, we're amplifying their efforts by raising awareness about the rising homelessness in Gananoque and the surrounding Leeds & Grenville area. Together, let's shine a light on the challenges faced by those without homes and unite to find solutions.

Your support is key to making a positive impact on our community. All proceeds from the event will go directly to the Gananoque Salvation Army, assisting with the essential cost of room rentals.

This past weekend, the Gananoque Police Service held their 10th Annual Cram A Cruiser event,

accepting food and monetary donations for the local Gananoque & Area Food Bank.

With the generosity of the community, we filled six cruisers and raised $1534.45 in cash and gift

cards. We would like to thank everyone that visited our volunteers and donated!

On November 3rd, 2023 officers responded to a report of an elderly female, alone and confused. Upon arrival the female was known to police as having early onset dementia. The female was returned safely to her family member.

November 4th, 2023

On November 4th, 2023 officers observed a vehicle travelling with no rear lights. A traffic stop was conducted and upon speaking to the driver, officers observed signs of impairment. After failing a roadside breath test, the male was arrested for further testing. As a result, the 19-year-old male from Gananoque was charged with Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration and Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs. He was released on an appearance notice to be seen in court at a later date, and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

November 4th, 2023

On November 4th, 2023 officers on patrol observed a 45-year-old male from Gananoque at a local financial institution. The male was known to be on probation with conditions not to be at that location. As a result, the male was arrested and held for a show cause bail hearing.

November 9th, 2023

On November 9th, 2023 a warrant was issued for failing to comply with probation for a 34-year-old male from Gananoque. On November 16th, 2023 the male was arrested and charged with three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation and released on an undertaking with conditions.

November 10th, 2023

On November 10th, 2023 officers on patrol observed a 45-year-old male from Gananoque at a local financial institution. The male was known to be on probation with conditions not to be at that location. As a result, the male was arrested and held for a show cause bail hearing.

November 13th, 2023

On November 13th, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a sexual assault on a youth. An investigation was conducted and as a result a 22-year-old male from Lansdowne was arrested and charged with two counts of Assault, and Sexual Assault on a person under 16 years of age. The male was held for a show cause bail hearing.

November 20th, 2023

On November 20th, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a sexual assault on a child. As a result of an investigation, a 47-year-old male from Kingston was arrested and charged with Sexual Interference and Sexual Assault on a person under 16 years of age. The male was released on an undertaking with conditions.

November 22nd, 2023

On November 2nd, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a report of distribution of intimate images of a minor. An investigation was conducted, and as a result, a youth was arrested on November 22nd, 2023 and charged with Distribute intimate image without consent, and Imports, distributes, sells or possess for the purpose of distribution or sale any child pornography. The youth was released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

November 27th, 2023

On October 20th, 2023 a bench warrant was issued for a 36-year-old male from Kingston for failing to attend court as required. On November 27th, 2023 the male was arrested by Kingston Police on the strength of the warrant and transported to the Gananoque Police Service. He was charged with Failure to attend court after having appeared. The male was held for a show cause bail hearing.

The Gananoque Police Service is holding our Annual Cram A Cruiser fundraising event on Saturday, December 9th to collect non-perishable food items and monetary donations for our local Gananoque and Area Food Bank. Volunteers will be ‘cramming the cruisers’ between 10AM and 2PM at the Metro and No Frills parking lots.

Each year the community has gone above and beyond to support those in need - last year the community helped us fill 5 cruisers with items and donated $1527.85 for The Gananoque and Area Food Bank. Our community’s support and kindness shows the true meaning of the holiday season.

On August 24th, 2023, a committal warrant was issued by the Superior Court of Brockville Family Court for failure to comply with a family court order, for a 34-year-old male from Gananoque. On October 25th, 2023 the male attended the Gananoque Police Service for a probation meeting, and was arrested and transported to the Brockville jail as dictated by the warrant.

September 22nd, 2023

On September 22nd, 2023, a male who was on charge for Failure to Comply with Undertaking, was alleged to have breached his conditions. As a result, a warrant was obtained for his arrest. On October 25th, 2023, the 45-year-old male from Mallorytown attended the police station for fingerprinting. He was arrested and charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order, and Failure to Comply with Undertaking x2. He was released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

October 6th, 2023

On October 6th, 2023, the Gananoque Police Service received a bench warrant from the Ontario Court of Justice, Brockville for a 38-year-old male from Portland who had failed to attend court. On October 24th, 2023, officers were notified that the male was in custody with another service but being released shortly. Officers attended the Brockville Jail and arrested the male, who was held in custody for a bail hearing.

October 19th, 2023

On October 19th, 2023, officers assisted the ROPE Squad (Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement) in arresting a 46-year-old male from Brampton who was wanted by Toronto Police Service for domestic violence related offences. The male was arrested and custody was transferred to the Toronto Police.

October 27th, 2023

On October 27th, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a report of an abandoned vehicle on a trail off Beaver Road. Officers attended and confirmed the 2017 white Ford Expedition had been reported stolen to the Lanark County OPP. The vehicle was removed and OPP was notified. If anyone has information regarding the stolen vehicle, please contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.

October 28th, 2023

On October 28th, 2023, officers attended a Stone Street residence for a report of a disturbance outside of the home. Officers located a 28-year-old male from Prescott, who was hiding from police. After identifying the male, it was discovered the male had several warrants held by the OPP. The male was arrested and turned over to the custody of the Ontario Provincial Police. Officers located and confirmed the female resident was unharmed and that no criminal offences had taken place.

October 31st, 2023

On October 31st, 2023, officers on patrol observed a male inside a local financial institution who had previously been trespassed from the property. Officers spoke with the male who was belligerent, and began littering around the business. Previous reports involving the male stated that he was interfering with the customers use of the property. As a result, the 45-year-old male from Gananoque was arrested and charged with Mischief – Obstructing and interfering with the lawful use or operation of property. He was held for a bail hearing.

On August 25th, 2023, the Gananoque Police Service received information from the Gananoque Probation and Parole Office of a 30-year-old female from Gananoque who failed to pay restitution – a condition of her probation – after being provided ample time for payment. As a result, the female was charged with Fail to Comply with Probation Order and served a summons at the request of Probation.

August 25th, 2023

On August 25th, 2023, the Gananoque Police Service received information from the Gananoque Probation and Parole Office of a 29-year-old male from Gananoque who had breached his probation conditions. An arrest warrant was issued and on September 16th, 2023 the male was located and arrested. He was charged with Fail to Comply with Probation and held for a bail hearing.

August 28th, 2023

On August 28th, 2023, officers responded to a disturbance at a King Street East business. As a result of evidence obtained by police, a 49-year-old female from Kingston was arrested and charged with Mischief Under $5000 and Assault. She was released on an Appearance Notice to appear in court a t a later date.

September 2nd, 2023

On September 2nd, 2023 at approximately 8:30pm, the Gananoque Police Service responded to a report of an assault near the waterfront in the South Ward. Police arrived and spoke to the victim, who reported a male assaulted him by punching him in the head, but fled when police were called. The male is described a Caucasian, 6’0”, medium build, 35 to 38-years-old, and he was accompanied by a female described as 5’8”, in her early 30’s with long dark hair. September 5th, 2023

On September 5th, 2023, the Gananoque Police Service received a report from a local Bail Supervision Program of a male who had breached his bail conditions. An arrest warrant was obtained, which was executed on September 21st, 2023. The 29-year-old male from Gananoque was charged with one count of Failure to Comply with Release Order, and held in custody for a bail hearing.

September 7th, 2023

On September 7th, 2023, officers while on patrol conducted a traffic stop in the area of King St and Stone St. Information on the driver and passenger revealed that both occupants were suspended drivers. The 45-year-old male from Brockville was arrested and charged with Driving while under Suspension, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine. He was released on an Undertaking with Conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

September 15th, 2023

On September 15th, 2023, the Gananoque Police Service received information from the Gananoque Probation and Parole Office of a 30-year-old female from Gananoque who had breached her conditions numerous times after being provided several opportunities to report as required. As a result, the female was charged with Fail to Comply with Probation Order and served a summons at the request of Probation.

September 19th, 2023

On September 19th, 2023, Police, Fire and EMS responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a pedestrian struck by a vehicle that had since fled. It was reported that an unplated silver or grey Mazda 3 with a black fuel cover, and black bumper had attended a local gas station where a Caucasian male wearing: red shoes, tri-coloured shorts, a lime green construction shirt, red hat, sunglasses and a medical mask was observed pumping gas into the vehicle and a jerry can without paying. When staff attempted to speak with the male, he took off at a high rate of speed, dragging the staff member a short length before heading westbound on the 401 Highway. September 20th, 2023

On September 20th, 2023, officers received a report of a stolen vehicle, taken in the early morning hours from a residence. As a result of the officer’s investigation, a suspect was identified and a warrant was issued. On October 4th, 2023 the youth suspect turned themselves in to police, and was held for a bail hearing. The suspect was charged with Failure to Comply with Release Order, Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code, and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000. The vehicle was located and returned to its rightful owner.

On September 22nd, 2023, officers responded in the early morning hours to a report of a male breaching his release conditions by being in contact with a person whom he was not to communicate with. The officers located the suspect’s vehicle with both parties inside. As a result, a 45-year-old male from Mallorytown was arrested and charged with two counts of Failure to Comply with Release Order. He was given an Undertaking with Conditions, and then turned over to the custody of the OPP due to an outstanding warrant.

October 8th, 2023

On October 8th, 2023, officers on patrol observed a male walking on King Street East with open alcohol. Officers spoke to the male and cautioned him for public intoxication and open alcohol in a public place. The 25-year-old male from Gananoque agreed to return home. Later while on patrol the male was observed again with open alcohol, when speaking to him, the male became confrontational and belligerent. He was arrested and held until sober, and provided two Provincial Offence Notices for Being Intoxicated in Public Place, and Having Liquor in Open Container in Unauthorized Place.

***Firearm Seizure*** On July 23rd, 2023 officers with the Gananoque Police Service while on patrol made observations on a suspicious vehicle with licence plates not belonging to the vehicle at one of the local motels. Police observed the vehicle leave the property being operated by a lone male at the time. Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle which failed to stop and drove in such a manner that police discontinued the stop due to public safety concerns.

The male was positively identified through photographs by police, and as a result an investigation commenced. Officers also identified which motel room the male came from and a female associated with the suspect.

A search warrant was sought and granted to the motel unit which was executed by police.

Officers arrested a 19-year-old female from Cardinal who was located within the unit and seized the following:

- Blue Powdered Fentanyl

- Loaded Handgun

Both face the following charges, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession, Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition.

The 46-year-old male is also charged with: Possession of Firearm contrary to Prohibition Order as well as Flight from Police and is currently wanted.

This matter is currently before the Courts.

On July 13th, 2023 officers responded to a King Street business after receiving a report of an assault with a weapon. Officers located the victim who was injured but did not require medical attention. The 26-year-old male from Gananoque was later located and arrested, and the weapon was seized. He was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Unauthorized Possession of Weapon. The male was released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen at a later date.

July 14th, 2023

On July 14th, 2023 a neighbouring police service arrested a 37-year-old female from Kingston on the strength of a warrant held by the Gananoque Police Service. The female was transported to the station, where she was charged with Fail to Attend Court, and Failure to Comply with Release Order, and was held for a bail hearing.

July 20th, 2023

On July 20th, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a youth in distress, having a bad reaction to marijuana. Upon arrival, the youth was cooperative but agitated at first, then quickly became assaultive with family and friends. Officers apprehended the youth and provided an escort to the hospital with paramedics for further medical assessment.

July 27th, 2023

On July 27th, 2023 officers attended a Gananoque business parking lot after receiving a report of a male locked under a truck’s tonneau cover. Officers located the moving vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. After identifying the occupants, it was determined that two had active immigration warrants. As a result, two males – one 28-years-old, the second 24-years-old – both from Mexico were arrested and turned over to officers of the Canadian Border Services Agency.

July 30th, 2023

On July 30th, 2023, officers responded to a report of an assault at a local residence. Further investigation resulted in a local youth being arrested and charged with Assault and Mischief Under. The youth was released on an appearance notice.

July 31st, 2023

On July 31st, 2023 officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle collision in front of a King Street East business. Witnesses confirmed the suspect vehicle fled upon learning police had been contacted. Suspect vehicle and driver information was obtained, and on August 3rd, 2023 the investigating officer located the 65-year-old female driver from Kingston who was arrested and charged with Failure to Stop After Accident. She was released on an Appearance Notice, to be seen in court at a later date.

August 3rd, 2023

On August 3rd, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service were notified of a theft of a cellphone from a local business. Officers conducted an investigation, resulting in the arrest of a 31-year-old female from Gananoque. She was charged with Theft Under and Possession Property Obtained by Crime. The female was released on an undertaking with conditions.

August 5th, 2023

On August 5th, 2023 officers attended a King Street residence after receiving a report of two unwanted persons disturbing the peace. As a result, a 34-year-old male from South Frontenac was arrested and charged with Fail to Comply with Probation Order. He was held for a bail hearing.

June 30th, 2023

On June 30th, 2023 a bench warrant was issued by the Ontario Court of Justice for a 39-year-old male from Kingston who had failed to attend court as required. On August 9th, 2023 the male turned himself in to the Gananoque Police Service, and was charged with Fail to Comply with Appearance Notice. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.

August 11th, 2023

On August 11th, 2023 officers responded to a report of a substantial theft from a Stone Street business that had just occurred. A further investigation identified one male suspect and a warrant for arrest was issued. The Gananoque Police Service was notified on August 25th, 2023 that the 25-year-old male had been arrested by a neighbouring service. He was transported to the station and charged with Theft Under, Possession Property Obtained by Crime, and Failure to Comply with Undertaking. He was released on an undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

August 16th, 2023

On August 16th, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received 9-1-1 calls reporting a male on King Street threatening to kill people, while holding a kitchen knife. Officers located the 35-year-old male from Gananoque, seized the weapon, and apprehended him under the Mental Health Act. He was taken to hospital for assessment.

March 21st, 2023

On March 21st, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service were made aware of ongoing harassment that spanned from 2020 to 2023. A lengthy investigation resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old male from Gananoque on August 18th, 2023. He was charged with Criminal Harassment. The male was already in custody with another service, and was held for a bail hearing.

August 20th, 2023

On August 20th, 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a report of an assault at a local residence. Officers attended and arrested a youth, who was charged with Assault and Utter Threats. The youth was held for a bail hearing.

August 21st, 2023

On August 21st, 2023 in the early morning hours, officers responded to a request from paramedics to attend a local motel for an aggressive and intoxicated male. The 44-year-old male from England was banging on doors, disturbing the peace, walking into traffic and refused medical treatment. Unable to locate any friends or family for the male, he was placed under arrest for being intoxicated in a public place and held until sober for his safety.

Kids Catch Fish with Cops in Gananoque

Gananoque, ON: Excitement is building for the 1st Inaugural Catching Fish with Cops event, set for Sunday August 13th in Gananoque.

Organized by the members of the Gananoque Police Service, the free event will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Gananoque Waterfront at Joel Stone Park. The young anglers can look forward to giveaways and a BBQ lunch with drinks following the fishing derby. In addition to other festivities, the Gananoque Vintage Boat museum will be providing boat rides to young anglers in a vintage tugboat.

Catching Fish with Cops is sponsored by the Canadian National Sportfishing Foundation’s Kids and Cops Fishing Days, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting recreational fishing. On June 27th, 2023, officers were notified by a nearby police service that a 29-year-old male from Gananoque had been arrested on the strength of a warrant held by the Gananoque Police Service. The prisoner was transferred into the Gananoque Police Service’s custody and was charged with one count of Fail to comply with probation after failing to report to his probation officer as required. The male was released and will be seen in court at a later date.

June 27th, 2023

On June 27th, 2023, officers responded to a 9-1-1 call for a disturb the peace at a local business. Upon arrival, officers located a 32-year-old male intoxicated and undressed outside the premise being disruptive. Police concluded the disturbance resulted from a verbal argument, with no criminal allegations. The male was left in the care of a friend for the remainder of the night.

On June 30th, 2023, a 37-year-old male from Portland was arrested by a nearby police service on the strength of a warrant held by the Gananoque Police Service. The male had been previously charged with Mischief under, Causing a disturbance, and Failure to comply with undertaking x2. He was released on and Undertaking with conditions with a new court date.

July 5th, 2023

On July 5th, 2023, while on patrol, officers received information of an intoxicated male driver who had left a local drinking establishment. The vehicle was observed and stopped by officers who found the driver showing signs of impairment. Further investigation revealed that the 62-year-old male from Gananoque was over two times the legal limit. The male was charged with Operation while impaired. The male’s drivers license was suspended, and he was released on an Undertaking with conditions, to be seen in court at a later date.

July 9th, 2023

On July 9th, 2023, in the early morning hours, officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in progress at an apartment building. Upon arrival, both parties were found to be intoxicated and admitted to a verbal dispute. The 23-year-old male from Gananoque was held for Breach of the Peace and released when sober.

July 12th, 2023

On July 12th, 2023 officers responded to a request for assistance from ambulance for a disoriented female suffering from heat stroke. Officers were able to identify the woman and safely return her to her family after being cleared by paramedics.

Gananoque Berm Out Set to Launch for Another Successful Summer

GANANOQUE, ON – In response to the voices of local youth in Gananoque, ON, the Gananoque Police Service is collaborating with the YMCA of Eastern Ontario, the Town of Gananoque, the United Way, RNJ Youth Services, the Gananoque Fire Service to provide a drop-in program for teens during the summer at the Gananoque Waterfront – Joel Stone Park, starting Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

"We are focused on addressing gaps in services across our region and are excited about partnering with like-minded agencies to help people in our communities," said Rob Adams, CEO, YMCA of Eastern Ontario. "We are pleased to be working alongside RNJ Youth Services and Gananoque Police Service and to have funding from the United Way and Gananoque Town Council who see the value in supporting local youth."

Gananoque Police see the program as a positive response to what they have been hearing from youth.

Police Chief Scott Gee said, "Through numerous consultations, youth have told us that they want a safe space to gather and that is what this initiative provides. We are pleased that the Town has recognized the voices of our teens and is playing an important role in making this a reality."

This will be the third year of the successful “Berm Out” program and is being funded by partner agencies. The United Way is providing $10,000, the Town of Gananoque is providing $15,000, Gananoque police and fire services are donating use of the mobile command trailer to use as the drop-in space. The YMCA is covering the remaining budget of $5,000 as a demonstration of its strong commitment to supporting teens with opportunities for healthy activities and positive social connections. City Cruises by Hornblower are supporting the program by providing parking for staff and financial donation to support the program.

The Berm Out will be staffed by youth workers from the YMCA and RNJ Youth Services every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. during July and August.

On June 22nd 2023, Gananoque Police Service made several arrests in connection with an ongoing investigation into a structure fire, dating back to 2019.

A 44 year-old Gananoque male, a 45 year-old Seeley’s Bay male, a 43 year-old Gananoque male, and a 30 year-old Gananoque female were all arrested and charged with one count Arson. All four individuals were released on conditions and are to appear in court at a later date.

Youth in Policing Initiative Program

The Gananoque Police Service has hired four youths this summer for our Youth in Policing Initiative Program. This program has been successfully implemented since 2008, and began

as a strategy to promote participation and exposure to the work environment through educational and productive work assignments, while also bridging the gap between police and local youth. Each summer, these students act as Town Ambassadors, assisting with local events and participating in fundraising initiatives. The program runs for 8 weeks throughout the summer.

On June 11th, 2023, the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a concerned family member regarding a missing person who hadn’t been heard from in three days. Officers attended the missing person’s residence and it was evident the person had taken their belongings and animals with them. Investigation revealed they were in Northwestern Ontario. An officer made contact with the missing person by cell phone, and advised their wellbeing would need to be confirmed in person by a police officer. The missing person attended a nearby OPP detachment, and they were able to confirm the person’s wellbeing and safety. The Gananoque Police Service would like to thank the OPP for their assistance.

June 13th, 2023

On June 13th, 2023, officers attended a King Street East business after receiving a report of a suspicious male attempting to sell marijuana to passing citizens. A records check on the 34-year-old male was conducted and it was determined that Brockville Police Service held an active warrant for him. The warrant was executed, and the male was released on an Appearance Notice.

June 16th, 2023

On June 16th, 2023, the Gananoque Police Service received a report from a concerned citizen who could hear their neighbor calling for help and they were unable to gain access to the residence. Officers responded to a Stone Street South residence and were able to gain entry, locating a person in distress who needed medical care. An ambulance attended and the patient was transported to hospital. Thank you to the caller who responded quickly, their actions helped a neighbor in need.

On May 26 th , 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a 9-1-1 call from a female

in distress. The victim reported a verbal argument with her spouse became violent,

and she was struck on the head. The victim was able to protect herself in her vehicle

until officers arrived, at which time the suspect had fled. As a result, a warrant was

obtained for the 43-year-old transient male.

May 31 st , 2023

On May 31 st , 2023 officers responded to a person welfare check on a male who

appeared to be in distress. Police spoke with the male who was incoherent and

confused, they also observed self-sustained injuries due to his mental state. An

ambulance was called for assessment, and the male was transported to hospital.

On May 31 st , 2023 officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at a north-end residence, where an

intoxicated male was being assaultive. Officers located the 40-year-old male from Gananoque

who had left the residence, and he was placed under arrest. He was charged with Assault x 2,

and Utter threats. The male was held for a bail hearing.

June 1 st , 2023

On June 1 st , 2023 a complainant attended the Gananoque Police Service regarding serious

concerns for her safety and family members due to threats made by her ex-spouse. Evidence

in the form of text messages were obtained, and an arrest warrant was obtained that day for

the 46-year-old male from Brockville. With the assistance of the Brockville Police Service, the

male was arrested and charged with Utter threats to cause bodily harm x 2, and Intimidation.

He was held for a bail hearing.

June 3 rd , 2023

On November 7 th , 2022 the Gananoque Police Service received a report of stolen cheques

from a residence, the suspects had been doing work within the home and took the cheques

without the victim’s knowledge. Financial statements showed over $12,500 taken from the

victim’s accounts. After a lengthy investigation, one suspect had been arrested in May, 2023.

The second suspect, a 39-year-old male from Gananoque was arrested on June 3 rd , 2023 and

charged with Possession of property obtained by crime, Utter forged document, and Fraud

under $5000. He was released on an Undertaking, to be seen in court at a later date.

June 5 th , 2023

On June 5 th , 2023 a complainant attended the station to report two historical domestic

assaults that occurred in 2019 and 2021. As a result, a 46-year-old male from Brockville who

was currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing was advised of further charges: Assault x 2,

and Utter threats.

On June 5 th , 2023 a 9-1-1 call was received from a King Street East motel reporting a break

and enter, and theft. Officers attended and arrested a 23-year-old female from Kingston, and

a 24-year-old male from Kingston. Both were charged with Break, Enter a place - commit

indictable offence, and Theft Under $5000. They were released on an appearance notice and

will be seen in court at a later date.

June 6 th , 2023

On June 6 th , 2023 officers responded to a 9-1-1 call at a King Street East business to assist

with a male who had been injured and required ambulance. It was reported that the victim had

been approached by a 53-year-old male from Kingston, and after a verbal argument, the

accused drove a power lift into the victim. As a result, the male was arrested and charged

with Assault with a weapon. He was released on an Appearance Notice, to be seen in court at

a later date.

On June 6 th , 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a theft in progress from

a King Street East business. Officers responded and located the 28-year-old female from

Gananoque who attempted to hide the stolen items under a vehicle. The items were returned,

and at the request of the business, the female was later arrested and released on an

appearance notice, to be seen in court at a later date.

On June 8 th , 2023 the Gananoque Police Service received a report of a male trespassing at a

Gananoque residence, irate and carrying a steel pipe. Officers attended and spoke with the

male who was in mental distress, as a result the male was apprehended and transported to

hospital for assessment.

On June 8 th , 2023 officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a domestic in progress at a

north-end residence. A verbal argument became heated, and then physical, resulting in a

family member contacting police. A 19-year-old male from Gananoque was arrested and

Police responded to a domestic dispute in progress. Investigation revealed that a 30yr old female from Gananoque got into an altercation with her common-law which escalated from damaging flowerbeds to the pouring of gasoline around the detached garage and threatening to light it on fire along with the victim. As a result, the female was arrested on the following charges; Arson, Assault, Uttering Threats, Mischief and Fail to Comply with Probation. The female was held for a Bail Hearing and remanded into custody awaiting her next court date.

Officers attended a call of a male attempting to break into a residence. When officers arrived, they located a 24yr old male from Gananoque who was intoxicated. The male was arrested for Public Intoxication and held in custody until sober and was served a Provincial Offences Notice upon his release.

A 37yr old female from Kingston was arrested who was on an outstanding Bench Warrant for failing to appear and other criminal related charges. The female was held for a Bail Hearing and later released by the courts with a future court date.

Officers attended a residence in Gananoque as a result of a 9-1-1 call. Investigation revealed that a 79yr old female was breaching her release conditions by residing at a residence in which she was on conditions not to. As a result, the female was arrested and charged for breaching her Release Order and held for a Bail Hearing. The female was later released with a future court date.

Officers received a call to attend a residence as a result of a call of an assault. Officers attended and spoke with the victim who advised he was head-butted by a young person. The young person also threatened to kill the victim. As a result the young person was arrested and charged with Utter Threats and Assault who was later released on an Undertaking.

Gananoque Police Service have charged a 22-year-old Toronto male in connection with a fraudulent transaction, commonly referred to as the “Grandparent Scam”. On March 16th, a local senior resident received a phone call from a male claiming to be a police officer, advising that their grandson was in custody and facing serious criminal charges. The victim then spoke with a male claiming to be their grandson who was pleading for financial help. Over the course of the next several hours, the victim was given specific instructions on how to withdraw and package a large sum of money, to ensure their grandson’s safe release.

On March 17th, Belleville Police Service released a bulletin advising they had arrested two males for the same type of scam. One of the males matched the description provided by the Gananoque victim and as such, was charged for Personating a Police Officer, Fraud Over $5000, and Breach of Probation. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.

April 4th, 2023

Gananoque Police Service were contacted by a local business advising they were watching three active shoplifters inside the store. While police were on route, the suspects had realized they were being watched, abandoned the products and quickly exited the store. An officer was able to locate the suspects in their vehicle attempting to flee and subsequently placed them under arrest. While dealing with the suspects at the vehicle, a large amount of merchandise was noticed strewn throughout the interior. Upon further investigation, police learned that two of the suspects had recently been charged for shoplifting from the same business chain in numerous other municipalities throughout Ontario and Quebec. Earlier on this date, the same three suspects had been observed shoplifting in a Trenton store, but fled prior to police arrival. All merchandise was seized from the vehicle as stolen property.

The three suspects (a 21-year-old male, 25-year-old female, 29-year-old female, all from Scarborough) were charged with Shoplifting, and two of them were also charged with breaching their Release Order. They will be required to attend court at a later date and were released on several conditions.

In the early morning hours of March 29th, officers from the Gananoque Police investigated a vehicle on King Street East that was experiencing apparent mechanical issues. Upon speaking to the driver of the vehicle, officers noted signs of impairment by alcohol. The driver was given a demand to provide a sample of his breath into a Roadside Screening Device and he refused. The driver was arrested and charged with Refuse Breath Demand. The 37-year-old man of no fixed address was released and will appear in court at a later date and is subject to a 90-day administrative driver’s licence suspension.

April 1, 2023

In the early morning hours of April 1st, the Gananoque Police received several dropped 9-1-1 calls. Through a series of investigative techniques, police were able to locate the phone subscriber who directed police a parking lot on Queen Street where a couple were camping for the night and it was believed the calls originated from the couple. Officers attended and located a male and female. Both parties were interviewed and police left the scene as no criminality was determined.

Shortly after clearing the scene Police received a 9-1-1 call from a nearby resident, asking police to re-attend as a woman could be heard screaming. Officers attended and, as a result, of the events that transpired an 18-year-old Kingston man was arrested for one count of Domestic Assault Causing Bodily Harm. The female victim was transported to hospital via Ambulance and later released with what is believed to be minor injuries.

The male was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Scam Alert - March 16th 2023

The Gananoque Police Service would like to warn the community of the increase in attempted phone scams that are targeting the vulnerable senior population. On today’s date, several calls were received from seniors advising they had been contacted on their landline phones from “private numbers” who were claiming they were loved ones in need of money. On one occasion, a local senior citizen lost a large amount of money, falling victim to the fraudulent transaction.

This is a common theme known as “grandparent scams” where fraudsters use manipulation and urgency to extort money from potential victims. Seniors are contacted and advised that one of their relatives; usually a child or grandchild, is in jail or had an emergency and are seeking a large sum of money in order pay for legal fees or to be released. In some cases, seniors report speaking with the presumed relative, who is upset and desperate for help.

If you fall victim to a fraud or know someone who has received a call similar to this, contact your local police service directly at 613-382-4422. Do not call any numbers provided by the potential fraudsters.

As a result of a traffic stop, Gananoque Police arrested a 37yr old male from Gananoque who was on an outstanding Bench Warrant for criminal related charges. The male was later released on an Appearance Notice with a future Court date.

The Gananoque Police responded to a call of someone attempting to break into a residence. Upon police arrival officers they located a male party at the rear of the residence. The male was not responding to police requests and was placed under arrest. Male was intoxicated to the point where he believed he was at his residence. The 54yr old male from Gananoque was held until sober and released on a provincial offence notice.

February 20th, 2023

Gananoque Police were notified of a threatening letter left in the complainant’s mail box. Investigation revealed that it was the complainant’s neighbour who had been responsible. Police were able to determine that the 41yr old female from Gananoque was also responsible for other similar incidents and was arrested and held for a Bail Hearing. Female has been kept in custody until her next Court appearance.

February 23rd, 2023

Gananoque police responded to a business in the east end where a female was reported dispersing a fire extinguisher at the building and its surrounding property. When the female could not gain access through the front door she used the fire extinguisher to break through the front window and jumped into the store. The female suffered a large injury as a result but continued to chase staff and customers with the extinguisher. Police attempted to control the female so that medical attention could be administered but the female then fought with police and was eventually restrained after resisting arrest and attempting to spit on officers. The 28yr old female from Richmond Hill was treated for her injuries then held for a Bail Hearing where she was held in custody until her next Court appearance.

While on patrol, Gananoque Police observe a 54-year-old male known to them standing outside his residence. The male was known to be wanted for an outstanding arrest warrant held by Kingston Police for breaching his Probation Order. The male was arrested without incident and turned over to Kingston Police for processing.

February 4th, 2023

Gananoque Police Service received a complaint about a male repeatedly following a Victim around town. The male had previously been cautioned by police when it was alleged that he had been driving by the Victim repeatedly. After being cautioned, the Victim produced evidence of the male driving by them repeatedly, again. The 51-year-old male of no fixed address was contacted and agreed to turn himself in to police. He was arrested and charged for Criminal Harassment and released on several conditions with a future court date.

February 10th, 2023

Gananoque Police Service received a complaint of a Young Person out of control. Officers responded to a local residence and were advised that the Young Person had attempted to strike another person and as such, was restrained to avoid any further escalation in their behaviour. While being restrained, the Young Person uttered death threats to two other people in the residence. The Young Person was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

A 26-year-old Kingston man was in the custody of the Kingston Police. The male had an outstanding arrest warrant held by the Gananoque Police Service for multiple drug related offences as well as breaching his probation and driving while suspended. The male was taken into the custody of the Gananoque Police and was held for a bail hearing. The male will return to court in late January 2023.

December 13, 2022

Police were dispatched to a Sydenham Street residence to a report of a 14-year-old male youth assaulting two other males. Upon further investigation, the youth was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and was released on an Undertaking including several conditions and is scheduled to appear in court in mid-January, 2023.

The Gananoque Police Service received a call from the OPP Leeds Detachments stating that they had arrested a 32-year-old male from Kingston who was on several outstanding arrest warrants held by the Gananoque Police Service. The male was taken into the custody of the Gananoque Police and was held for a bail hearing for charges of failing to attend court, Theft over $5000, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Failing to Comply with Probation. The male was remanded into custody and will appear in court in mid-January, 2023.

December 31, 2022

Police received a 911 call from a female reporting a domestic assault that had just occurred at a King Street West residence. Police arrived and spoke to the victim who advised that the suspect had fled. Police patrolled the area extensively, locating and arresting the 43-year-old Gananoque-man, charging him with domestic assault as well as breaching his probation. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing and remanded into custody with his next court date scheduled for early January, 2023.

December 31, 2022

Police were on routine patrol when they conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle. While officers were speaking to the driver, they observed a small bag containing suspected cocaine. As a result, a 25-year-old Gananoque man was arrested and charged for Possession of a Schedule I Substance. Police then discovered that the male had an active arrest warrant held by Kingston Police. The accused was transferred into the custody of Kingston Police and is scheduled to appear in court in late January 2023 on the Gananoque Police charges.

Police attended a Sydenham Street residence where a male youth had just assaulted and threatened two other persons. The male was found to be on an active release order for similar offences and was arrested and held for a bail hearing. The youth was remanded into the custody of a youth facility and will appear in court in early January, 2023.

On December 10th , a 36-year-old Gananoque man turned himself into police, as he was wanted on a warrant for one count of theft under $5,000. The male was released from custody to appear in court at a later date.

The Gananoque Police were called to a west end residence to a report of an assault. Investigation revealed that an unwanted female had shown up to the residence and engaged in an argument with the victim about packages that had been delivered to the residence. The argument escalated resulting in the accused slamming a door in the face of the victim causing an injury and the accused making a threat of bodily harm toward the victim. A 36-year-old Gananoque female was arrested and charged with one count of Assault and Uttering Threats. She was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

On October 10th 2022 the Gananoque Police entered into an investigation into a 49-year-old Gananoque man who was at large while on parole and under conditions of a Long Term Supervision Order. The offender was found to be in the presence of a female who had not been approved by his parole officer. A Parole Revocation warrant was issued and the offender was taken into custody. Police continued their investigation by executing a search warrant on the offender’s home, seizing several items including a cellphone. Police had the phone’s contents analyzed, which rendered further evidence of additional breaches of the offender’s Long Term Supervision Order. On December 6th, 2022, the offender was transported from Federal Penitentiary to the Gananoque Police Service where he was further charged with five counts of Breach of Order of Long Term Supervision. He is being held in custody.

Several Windows Broken in Downtown Gananoque and Apartment Building on Stone Street South ***SUSPECT IDENTIFIED & INVESTIGATION SOLVED***

With the assistance of several community members, local businesses, and the Kingston Police Service, the suspect responsible for multiple occurrences of broken windows at several local businesses in the downtown area of Gananoque as well as an apartment building located on Stone Street South, was identified and ultimately arrested. A 27-year-old man from the Kingston area has been charged with four counts of Mischief to Property as well as three counts of Failing to Comply with his Probation Order. The male has been held in custody pending a bail hearing scheduled for December 1, 2022.

OPEN INVESTIGATION: Several Windows Broken in Downtown Gananoque and Apartment Building on Stone Street South

In the early morning of November 26th, the Gananoque Police investigated multiple occurrences of broken windows at multiple local businesses. Two Young Offenders were ultimately arrested and charged in relation to two separate businesses, however, there was another suspect responsible for breaking windows in the downtown area of Gananoque as well as an apartment building located on Stone Street South. The suspect was not connected or involved with the Young Offenders and the police are requesting the community’s assistance in identifying the unknown suspect.

The suspect appears to be male, wearing a beige or light coloured winter coat, black touque, dark scarf or mouth covering or dark beard, dark pants and light coloured shoes.

Break and Enter

In the early morning of November 26th, the Gananoque Police investigated smashed windows of 2 local businesses. Using various investigative techniques, the culprits were identified and arrested. Police charged a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, both from Gananoque with two counts each of Break and Enter, two counts of Mischief under $5000 and one count of failing to comply with their respective Release Order. Both youths are to be held pending a bail hearing.

Breach of Probation

On September 15th a warrant was issued for the arrest of a 56-year-old Gananoque man for three counts of failing to comply with conditions of his Probation Order. On November 26th the Gananoque Police arrested the male and held him in custody pending a bail hearing.

Gananoque Police Service had responded to a local business on November 6th regarding a male stealing gas. The suspect male was recognized by police after viewing surveillance as a 17-year-old young person from Gananoque. Where the suspect male was known to be evading police, an arrest warrant was obtained. The male was located and arrested by Belleville Police Service on November 10th. He was released on conditions and will attend court at a later date.

November 14th, 2022

Gananoque Police Service responded to a local home where there had been an altercation. A guardian at the home had reported being assaulted by a young person after he was confronted about not following the rules of the household. The complainant left the young person alone to cool off. Moments later the young person sought out the complainant and attempted to assault him again. The 15-year-old Gananoque male was arrested and released on several conditions and will appear in court at a later date.

November 22nd, 2022

While on patrol, officers observed a female standing out front of a hotel, not properly dressed for the weather conditions. While speaking with the female, officers noticed a suspicious vehicle drive by them and park nearby. Subsequent investigation revealed the male was driving while his license was suspended, and with illegal plates. Further, the 30-year-old male from Cornwall was found to have been charged recently for a violent offence and bound by release conditions. One of his conditions was not to contact the female, or to be within 100 meters of her. The male was arrested for breaching conditions of his release and was held in custody for a bail hearing.

November 24th, 2022

On November 12th, while on mobile patrol, officers observed a vehicle parked outside a local residence. Officers knew the registered owner of the vehicle and approached it to speak with him regarding another matter. Officers observed that the driver was not the registered owner, but a male known to have an outstanding arrest warrant held by Brockville Police Service. The male refused to exit the vehicle as instructed, and instead drove across a sidewalk and the front yard of a neighbouring residence in order to evade police. An arrest warrant was obtained for the 33-year-old male of no fixed address for the offences of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Being Unlawfully at Large, and 2 counts of Probation Order – Non-Compliance.

On November 24th, Ontario Provincial Police requested assistance from Gananoque Police in searching for the accused male after he had allegedly committed other offences and ran away from a home just outside of town. He was later located, arrested, and held for a bail hearing on several offences from several different police agencies.

Gananoque Police Service arrested a 42-year-old Gananoque man for an ongoing intimate partner violence related incidents. The male had been recently arrested and held in custody awaiting a bail hearing. He was deemed to be suitable for release by the courts on more stringent conditions. After being released from Court, the male returned to the Victim’s home breaching conditions of his new release. Subsequent investigation resulted in the male being charged with additional counts of Assault, Utter Threats, and breaching conditions of his release. The Accused male was held in custody for a bail hearing.

November 3rd, 2022

Gananoque Police Service were called to a local business where a male was found sleeping and was refusing to leave when instructed to by staff. Upon arrival, officers identified the male as a 42-year-old Gananoque man of no fixed address. The male was known to police and was arrested on the strength of an arrest warrant for failing to attend court for property related offences. Subsequent to his arrest, he was searched and found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The male was charged accordingly and held in custody for a bail hearing. He was released by the courts later in the day with a new appearance date.

November 6th, 2022

While on patrol, officers noticed a female in a common area of a local business known to be wanted on the strength of an outstanding arrest warrant. The 18-year-old female from Elgin was wanted for failing to attend court on property related charges. An additional charge was added as she was found to be in breach of her release conditions. The female was held in custody for a bail hearing and remanded to a later date.

Just after midnight police responded to a Domestic Dispute at a residence in the west ward of Gananoque. Police were able to identify the parties involved and further investigation revealed that a 22-year-old female had been assaulted by a 33-year-old male from the Port Hope area. Police were also made aware that the male had an active warrant out for his arrest on outstanding charges. As a result, the male was arrested and charged for spousal assault as well as failing to comply with his release order and was held in custody for a bail hearing.

During the afternoon, a 35-year-old male from the Gananoque area, turned himself in to the police as he was wanted by the Brockville Police Service for the offence of breaking and entering. The male was arrested and turned over to the Brockville Police Service without incident.

October 2, 2022

Just after 3am, police conducted a traffic stop in the area of King Street East and Park Street. While speaking with the occupants of the vehicle, it was discovered that the driver, a 21-year-old male, and passenger, an 18-year-old female, both from the Elgin area, were currently before the courts on several offences and on conditions to be in their place of residence between the hours of 11pm and 6am. Both were arrested for failing to comply with their Undertaking and the male was additionally charged for taking the motor vehicle without consent as well as driving a vehicle with a class G1 licence while unaccompanied by a qualified driver. Both were held in custody for a bail hearing and will be back in court in early October to answer to all charges.

At approximately 8:45pm officers while on patrol, observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed without any rear taillights. Officer conducted a traffic stop on Stone Street North. As a result of the investigation, officers arrested and charged a 38-year-old male from Lyndhurst with Operation while Impaired by alcohol and Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80mg plus. Subsequently, at the time of his arrest, the male was found to be in possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Cocaine. The male’s driver’s license was automatically suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 7-days. The male is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

On September 17th, 2022, an East end business contacted the Gananoque Police Service to advise of two separate transactions that occurred on September 11th, 2022, involving the use of American counterfeit currency. As a result of an investigation, a 31-year-old female and a 30-year-old male both from Amherstview were arrested and charged with Uttering Counterfeit Money. Both parties are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Through further investigation, Police discovered that the male had a lengthy history of shoplifting and he was subsequently charged for Theft Under $5000 with a court date scheduled for late September.

Gananoque Police executed an Arrest Warrant, arresting a 16-year-old youth on charges of Uttering Threats, Possession of a Weapon, as well as Failing to Comply with his Probation Order. The charges stem back to an occurrence from last December. The youth will appear in court in late September.

Gananoque Police arrested a 30-year-old male while he was attending an east-end business in Gananoque. The O.P.P. had been investigating the male for Theft and Property related offences and he was transferred into their custody.

September 3, 2022

Just before midnight, Gananoque Police responded to a call to a west-end residence, where an unwanted person was reportedly refusing to leave. The male was identified as a 27-year-old man from Kingston, who had fled from the residence before police arrival. It was then reported that the same male was repeatedly calling the complainant, had uttered threats and may have been under the influence of drugs. Police patrolled the area and later located the male, arresting him for uttering threats. The male was held in custody until sober. The complainant no longer requested to proceed with criminal charges and the male was transported back to his residence in Kingston.

Members of the Gananoque Police executed a Bench Warrant, arresting a 32-year-old man from Gananoque for failing to attend his last court date. The male was held in custody for bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in court in early October.

September 6, 2022

Just after midnight, police were called to a residence on Tanner Street where they located an intoxicate 28-year-old man from Kingston. The male was arrested for being intoxicated and it was later revealed that he was also failing to comply with his Release Order on outstanding charges held by another police service. The male was held and remanded into custody pending an upcoming bail hearing scheduled for mid-September.

The Gananoque Police were advised by the Ottawa Police that they had initiated an investigation of an alleged sexual assault that had occurred the previous evening at a residence on King Street East in Gananoque. Members of the Gananoque Police Service took over the investigation and on the morning of September 9, 2022, executed a Search Warrant where the offence was reported to have taken place. Gananoque Police along with members of the O.P.P IDENT Unit arrested a 67-year-old male and seized multiple pieces of evidence. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing with his first appearance in court scheduled for mid-October. The investigation remains ongoing with further charges pending.

Just after midnight, Gananoque Police responded to a report of a disturbance involving several patrons of a restaurant on King Street West. Police arrived on scene and arrested a 29-year-old man for being intoxicated in a public place. The male was held in custody until he was sober and was released with a Provincial Offences Notice under section 31(1)(a) of the Liquor Licence and Control Act.

With the assistance of the Brockville Police Service, an outstanding Arrest Warrant and Bench Warrant dating back to October 2021 was executed on a 52-year-old woman from Athens. The female was held and remanded into custody including an additional charge under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Her next court appearance is scheduled for mid-September.

Gananoque Police responded to a residence on Sydenham Street to investigate an assault. A 13-year-old youth was subsequently arrested and charged for Assault Causing Bodily Harm, Uttering Threats, and Possession of a Weapon. The youth was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled for a court appearance in early October.

Gananoque Police executed two separate Bench Warrants on a 45-year-old man and an 18-year-old man, both from Gananoque. The incidents were not related however, both had failed to attend their last scheduled court appearance. Both are now scheduled to return to court in early October.

During the evening, Gananoque Police were on general patrol when they conducted a traffic stop on a driver who had been observed driving erratically on the road. A roadside sobriety check was conducted and it was determined that the 38-year-old man from Gananoque was impaired. The male was arrested and transported to the police station where two subsequent breath tests were conducted. As a result, the male was charged with Impaired Operation, Operation with 80mg or more of alcohol, and Possession of a Schedule I Substance. The male’s driver’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 7 days. The male was later released when sober and is scheduled to appear in court in mid-October.

Upon completion of an investigation of a stolen vehicle from a south ward neighbourhood in Gananoque, police executed an arrest warrant, arresting a 63-year-old man from Cornwall. The male was charged with Theft under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was later released with a court date scheduled in late September.

Gananoque Police responded to a downtown restaurant after complaints of several intoxicated and belligerent males had been reported. Police officers arrived on scene and dispersed the crowd and identified a 20-year-old male from Gananoque, who had an outstanding Arrest Warrant held by the Brockville Police Service. The male was arrested and subsequently searched where it was discovered that he was in possession of a schedule I substance, as defined by the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The male was charged for the drug offence and later released by both police services with a court date scheduled in late September.

The Gananoque Police Service received a call from a local business reporting the Loss Prevention officer had a male in custody for shoplifting. Officer attended and arrested a 27-year-old male from Chesterville. The male was charged with Theft Under $5000 and released with a future court date

The Gananoque Police Service received several calls regarding a lone male standing in the middle of Stone Street North shouting profanities. Officers attended and located a male matching the description provided. The male was initially cautioned for his disruptive behaviour. A short while later, a similar complaint was received involving the same male. Officers located the male and as a result arrested the 29-year-old Gananoque male for Disturbing the Peace. At the time of the arrest, the male was in possession of a bicycle that was later reported as stolen. The male was further charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Officers while on patrol observed a 42-year-old Gananoque man who was known to be wanted on an outstanding Bench Warrant. The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with Theft Under $5000 from a previous investigation reported to Gananoque Police on July 24th, 2022. The male was released and scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Officers received a call to attend a local residence regarding a physical altercation. As a result of an investigation, Officers were advised that a Young Person had become irate and was not following the rules of the household. Officers determined the Young Person was currently on conditions relating to previous offences. The Young Person was charged with Assault, Failing to Comply with Conditions of an Undertaking, and was held in custody for a bail hearing.

August 26th, 2022

A male attended the Gananoque Police Station to report an allegation of Theft that had occurred at an address outside the Town of Gananoque. While speaking with officers, it was determined the male was currently wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for Criminal Harassment steaming from an incident reported in July to the Ontario Provincial Police. The 41-year-old male from Prescott was arrested on the strength on the warrant. The male was released into the custody of the Ontario Provincial Police.

At approximately 11:30pm, the Gananoque Police Service received a 911-call regarding a traffic complaint of a motorist swerving repeatedly on King Street East and conducting harsh braking. Officer located a vehicle matching the description parked in an east end parking lot. Officers spoke with the female driver who was exhibiting signs of impairment. As a result of the investigation, a 53- year-old female from Gananoque was arrested for Operating a Conveyance while impaired by alcohol and Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80mg plus. Her driver’s license was automatically suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle was impounded for 7-days. The female is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

August 28th, 2022

Officers while on patrol observed a 20-year-old Gananoque male who was known to be wanted on an outstanding Bench Warrant held by Brockville Police Service. The male was arrested on the strength of the warrant. A search incident to arrest revealed the male was in possession of an illegal narcotic. The male was further charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance and released with a future court date.

On August 7th of 2022, Gananoque Police Service executed an outstanding arrest warrant on a 19-year-old male from the Trenton area. The warrant stemmed from a 2019 charge for which the accused male had failed to attend a subsequent court date. The male was arrested, released with a new court date and escorted back to the Trenton area.

On August 5th of 2022, officers arrested a male for several counts of stealing from vehicles. The suspect was identified after attempting to use stolen credit cards to make purchases at local businesses. The male turned himself in soon after being notified of the grounds for his arrest. He also turned over most of the property he had stolen, which was later returned to the owners. The 22-year-old Gananoque male was charged with several property related offences, as well as attempting to use the stolen credit cards. He was released on conditions with a future court date.

On August 5th of 2022, officers responded a 911 call for assistance. The 911 communicator could hear a male and female arguing before the call was disconnected. Officers attended and spoke with the caller who advised he had just been in an argument with his spouse and alleged that she had assaulted him and damaged his phone. Officers observed marks on the caller’s face that were consistent with his description of the assault. The female was later located and arrested for one count of Intimate Partner Violence related Assault. She was released on conditions with a future court date.

On July 29th of 2022, Gananoque Police Service received an arrest warrant for a 32-year-old Gananoque male. The male was currently on probation for previous convictions and had failed to report to his Probation Officer as required. Officers later located the male and arrested him for failing to comply with conditions of his probation. He was released with a future court date.

On July 29th of 2022, Gananoque Police Service received a bench warrant for a 59-year-old Gananoque male. The male had failed to attend court in relation to a 2021 matter. He was located and arrested on August 3rd. The male was released with a new court date.

The Gananoque Police were called to a local residence relating to a 15-year-old youth who assaulted an adult male and damaged property within the home. Officers attended and the youth had fled but was located and arrested not far from the scene. The youth was charged with one count each of assault, mischief under $5,000 and failing to comply with a condition of his Undertaking. The youth was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

A Gananoque officer while sitting stationary observed a male, in a passing vehicle, that was known to be wanted on several warrants held by the Gananoque Police. The vehicle was stopped and the officer approached the passenger door and engaged with the accused, who immediately became uncooperative and assaultive toward police. To gain compliance of the male a conducted energy weapon was used but was unsuccessful. The male attempted to escape by climbing out the driver’s side door where he was intercepted by police and after a short struggle was controlled and handcuffed. A 33-year-old Gananoque man was charged with assault police with intent to resist arrest and was held in custody following a bail hearing.

Officers while on patrol observed a 28-year-old Gananoque man who was known to be wanted by Kingston Police. The man was arrested without incident and transferred to the custody of Kingston Police for processing.

A 26-year-old Kingston male was arrested by Kingston Police on the strength of a warrant held by Gananoque Police. The male was turned over to Gananoque Police and held in custody pending a bail hearing.

On July 17th, 2022, Gananoque Police Service assisted the Ontario Provincial Police in stopping a stolen vehicle on the 401 highway. A 21-year-old male from Quebec was arrested without incident for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was taken into custody by OPP and the stolen truck was seized.

On July 14th, 2022, the Gananoque Police Service received a call from a female requesting assistance at her residence. A male could be heard yelling in the background. Police attended the home and observed the female complainant sitting calmly outside the residence. Officers observed signs of a physical altercation, including blood on her body and marks around her neck. She advised her partner had an outburst in the home and although she tried to calm him, she couldn’t and was assaulted in the process. Officers also observed the front door window had been smashed by the male.

Officers located the male outside the residence, covered in blood. He was placed under arrest without incident.

The 39-year-old Gananoque male was charged with Intimate Partner Violence related Assault and Mischief Under $5000. He was held for a show cause hearing, and subsequently remanded into custody with a later court date.

On July 14th, 2022, a male came to the Gananoque Police Service station to report an assault that had just occurred. The male had a visible injury to his face and provided a statement in which he advised that his spouse had assaulted him, causing the injury.

The accused female was contacted and advised of the grounds for her arrest. She agreed to attend the station to answer to the charges. Upon arriving at the station, the 58-year-old Gananoque woman was arrested and charged with two Intimate Partner Violence related offences, including Assault and Assault with a Weapon. The accused female was released on conditions with a future court date.

On July 14th, 2022, a female came to the Gananoque Police Service station to turn over an item to police. While speaking with a communicator, the female displayed some signs that she had been consuming alcohol. As the female left, the communicator advised officers that she had keys in her hand and that she was likely driving. Officers intercepted the female in her vehicle outside the station. The 48-year-old Gananoque woman was instructed to provide a sample of her breath into an approved screening device. As such, she was issued a 3-day suspension to her driver’s license. Her vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded until a sober driver could attend to retrieve it.

On July 14th, 2022, a 31-year-old Gananoque male came to the Gananoque Police Service station to attend an appointment with a partnering agency. The male was unaware that there was a warrant for his arrest for failing to appear in court as required. Upon the completion of the male’s appointment, he was arrested without incident and held for a show cause hearing. He was remanded into custody with a future court date.

On June 22nd, 2022, the Gananoque Police received an investigative package from Ontario Works alleging a fraud of over $25,000. The Gananoque Police arrested a 35-year-old Gananoque woman for the fraud and accordingly charged her with one count of Fraud over $5,000. She was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

Gananoque Police were called to Joel Stone Park to a report of an assault. Officers attended on scene and determined the altercation was over and one of the involved parties had left the scene. Further investigation resulted in charges to two youths. A 14-year-old female and a 15-year-old male were both charged with one count of assault each. They were released from custody on conditions and will appear in court at a later date.

After investigating multiple Break & Enters to local businesses, the Gananoque Police executed a Search Warrant on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at an east end Motel room. Police were able to locate and identify several key pieces of evidence and seized multiple items that had been reported stolen.

As a result, a 21-year old male and 17-year old female were both charged with multiple counts of Breaking & Entering, Theft, and Mischief to Property. Both have first appearance dates scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville in late July.

While an officer with the Gananoque Police was conducting a foot patrol of the downtown area on King Street East, a known 32-year old man, from Gananoque, was observed walking in the area of King Street and Charles Street. The man had an active Bench warrant for his arrest and he was arrested without incident. The man was charged for failing to attend court, failing to comply with his Undertaking as well as possession of a schedule I substance and is scheduled for a first appearance in court later in June to answer to all charges.

Just before midnight on May 29, 2022, officers with the Gananoque Police Service were on routine patrol when they conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling along King Street West. Officers spoke with the driver and passenger of the vehicle and further investigation and subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a quantity of drugs, including: Orange Fentanyl, Purple Fentanyl, Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Cannabis, and other drug paraphernalia in their possession with a combined street value of approximately $2200.

As a result, a 30-year-old male from Kingston and a 47-year-old female from Gananoque were jointly charged with three counts of possession of a schedule I substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with additional charges laid against the driver for Failing to Comply with his Release Order and Provincial Offence Charges for driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available and being a novice driver with the presence of cannabis in his system.

Both are scheduled for their first appearance in Brockville Provincial Court in early July to answer to their charges.

MTO & GPS CONDUCT VEHICLE INSPECTIONS

On the morning of Wednesday May 11, 2022, Officers with the Kingston District Ministry of Transportation as well as the Gananoque Police Service conducted a vehicle inspection check-point in the parking lot of the Lou Jeffries Gananoque & T.L.T.I. Recreation Centre. Officers were focussing on commercial vehicles, vehicles that appeared modified as well as vehicle that appeared unfit.

On the evening of Sunday May 1, 2022, police attended the parking lot of a King Street East business where there had been multiple calls to 911 reporting that someone had been attacked with a knife. Police arrived on scene and were quickly able to identify the persons involved and rendered first aid to two adult males while securing the scene and identifying witnesses. Police located and seized the weapon involved and collected multiple witness statements. As a result of the investigation, police arrested and charged an 18-year old male from Gananoque with Assault with a Weapon Causing Bodily Harm. The male was held for a Bail Hearing and given a First Appearance Court Date in mid June to answer to the charge.

Just prior to 6pm on May 1st, the Gananoque Police Service responded to an assault that occurred at the Tim Horton’s parking lot on King Street East. Two 18-year-old Gananoque men were taken to hospital with undisclosed injuries. At approximately 11:18pm on April 30th officers while on patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. While speaking to the driver, the officer found evidence that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was provided a roadside breath demand and he refused to provide a sample of his breath. A 41-year-old man from British Columbia was arrested and charged with refusal to provide a sample of his breath and drive motor vehicle – no licence. The vehicle was towed, and the male will appear in court at a later date.

On the afternoon of April 26, 2022, an officer of the Gananoque Police observed an adult male and female engaged in a loud and heated argument in the parking lot in the east end of town. The officer approached the two and observed that the female was in obvious distress. Further investigation revealed that the male, 28-year-old from Gananoque, was on domestic related charges and on conditions that he not be anywhere the female may be. As a result, the male was arrested by police and held in custody for a Show Cause Hearing.

On the evening of April 25, 2022, Gananoque Police conducted a traffic stop in the west end of town. After officers spoke to the lone 56-year-old male driver, it was determined that his licence was suspended. As a result, the driver was charged under the Highway Traffic Act and given a court date in late May and his vehicle impounded as per the Ontario Vehicle Impoundment Program, for seven days.

Just after midnight on April 24, 2022, the Gananoque Police responded to reports of persons fighting in front of a downtown establishment. Officers arrived, dispersing the crowd out front and were able to identify the persons involved. As a result, a 20-year-old female from Perth Ontario was arrested for Public Intoxication. The female was held in police custody until she was observed to be sober and was released with a Provincial Offence Notice under the Liquor Licence and Control Act.

On the early morning of April 22, 2022, The Gananoque Police were on routine patrol when they observed a 53-year-old male, from the Town of Gananoque, driving on Stone Street North. The male driver was known to police as a frequent and habitual suspended driver. On the evening of April 21, 2022, the Gananoque Police conducted a traffic stop on a 33-year-old driver. Further investigation revealed that the driver had a G1 status on his driver’s licence with no accompanying qualified driver and did not have insurance on his vehicle as required under the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act. The driver was given a court date in early May to answer to both charges.

On April 19, 2022, a 33-year-old male from Mallorytown turned himself in to the Gananoque Police Service. The Police had an Arrest Warrant for the male as a result of repeated and unwanted communication with a person he had been in a domestic relationship with. The male was charged with Harassment as well as two counts of Failing to Comply with his Probation Order. The male was held in custody for a Show Cause Hearing and later released with multiple conditions and a court date scheduled for later in May.

On April 12, 2022, the Gananoque Police responded to a report of youths fighting in the area of Town Park. Police located an injured female youth and spoke to several witnesses. Upon further investigation, police arrested a female youth from Gananoque for assaulting the other female victim. In the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 22, the Gananoque Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had failed to stop for a red light. Upon further investigation it was revealed that the vehicle was stolen, the driver was Prohibited to Drive, and on an active Probation Order. The 43-year-old adult male was arrested and charged for being in possession of stolen property, driving while prohibited and breaching his Probation Order, and will appear in court in late April 2022.

On Monday, March 21, 2022, the Gananoque Police were informed that the Kingston Police had a 28-year-old male in their custody. The Gananoque Police Service held a Bench Warrant for the male and arrangements were made to have the male transported to Gananoque. The male was ultimately remanded into custody at Brockville Jail pending a bail hearing that was scheduled for later in the week.

On March 18th, 2022, officers on patrol initiated a traffic stop and upon speaking to the driver, open alcohol was observed in the vehicle. The driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device and registered a fail. The male was then transported to the station where he provided further samples of his breath resulting in readings of 170mg and 150mg.

The 53-year-old male from Gananoque was charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). The vehicle was impounded for 7 days, and the male will be seen in court at a later date.

On March 17th, 2022, Gananoque Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a transport tractor trailer and a motor vehicle. It was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle failed to stop for the stop sign and struck the passing transport.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was also a Federal Parolee and officers were able to determine the male was in multiple breaches of his parole. The 24-year-old male from Kingston was taken into police custody and his parole officer was notified.

As a result of the police investigation the male’s parole was revoked and an apprehension warrant was issued where the male was then transported to the nearest jail to await his hearing.

On March 12th, 2022, while on patrol officers observed a male known to have an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant stemmed from Intimate Partner Violence related offences. After being convicted for his offences, the male failed to make restitution. As a result, he was charged with one count of breaching his Probation Order and the arrest warrant was sought.

The 40-year-old Gananoque male was arrested without incident and released with a future court date.

On the evening of Saturday, March 5, 2022, police conducted a traffic stop on Tanner Street where they discovered the female driver had been driving the vehicle with a suspended licence and without insurance. On the morning of Friday, March 4, 2022, Gananoque Police were conducting school zone patrols when they observed a vehicle speeding on Stone Street North, in front of Linklater Public School. Police attempted to pull the driver over when he intentionally sped off in an attempt to evade police. The driver was followed and ultimately arrested by police. A local 44-year-old man from Gananoque was charged with fleeing from police, dangerous operation of a conveyance, and driving with a suspended licence. The male was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

On March 3rd, 2022, while on patrol officers observed a male known to have outstanding arrest warrants. The warrants stemmed from an incident in January where the male was arrested for a drug trafficking related offence. After being released, the male uttered threats to an officer and was subsequently re-arrested and charged for several offences. The male failed to attend his future court date resulting in the warrants.

The 53-year-old Gananoque male was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

In the early morning hours of March 1st, the Gananoque Police conducted a traffic stop on Stone Street North. An investigation of the vehicle and its three occupants resulted in a seizure of twelve grams of Methamphetamine, .6 grams of Orange Fentanyl and cash. The total value of drugs and cash seized is approximately $2500. Police also seized a cannister of pepper spray and drug paraphernalia.

A 42-year-old Mallorytown man was charged with 2 counts of trafficking a schedule I substance, possession of proceeds of crime and one count of failing to comply with a condition of his recognizance. He was released to the Brockville Police who held a warrant for his arrest. A 28-year-old Spencerville woman was charged with 2 counts of trafficking a schedule I substance, possession of proceeds of crime and one count of possession of weapons dangerous to the public. She was released and will appear in court at a later date. A 48-year-old Gananoque man was charged with two counts of trafficking a schedule I substance and possession of proceeds of crime. He was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

On February 23rd, 2022, a partnering agency advised they had a male in their custody that was wanted on a Gananoque Police arrest warrant. The warrant stemmed from an incident in May of 2021 where the male was charged for property related offences and released on conditions with a future court date. He subsequently failed to attend his court appearance resulting in the warrant.

The 33-year-old Ottawa male was escorted back to Gananoque where he was held in custody for a bail hearing.

On February 20th, 2022, Gananoque Police were called to a local business where a female victim alleged that she had just been assaulted by her male partner at a local hotel. She advised that her partner was also on conditions not to have contact with her resulting from a previous intimate partner violence assault. The 26-year-old male from Mallorytown was located near the business and placed under arrest for Assault and breaching conditions of his Release Order. The male was held in custody for a bail hearing.

On February 17th, 2022, Gananoque Police were called to a residence several times throughout the day after receiving information that a 32-year-old female was present, which was a breach of her Probation Order. The occupants of the residence denied the allegations, advising that the female was likely in Kingston. When Police returned to the home for a third time, one of the occupants advised that the female was present and had been refusing to leave. She was located in the residence and advised that she was under arrest for breaching conditions of her Probation Order. While officers were effecting the arrest, the female resisted and became combative. She was subsequently charged for Resisting Arrest and Failing to Comply with her Probation Order and held in custody for a bail hearing.

On February 1st, 2022, a 24-year-old male from Gananoque attended the police station for a probation meeting. During this time, it was discovered that Kingston Police held an arrest warrant for breaching his probation order. The male was arrested and transported to Kingston to answer to his charges.

On February 3rd, 2022, Gananoque Police Service contacted a 40-year-old Gananoque woman and advised her of an outstanding warrant for her arrest. The female had failed to attend court as required on February 1st, resulting in the bench warrant. Subsequently, she turned herself in and while being searched incident to arrest, she was found to be in possession of drugs. She was charged accordingly and held in custody for a bail hearing.

On January 30th, 2022, Gananoque Police were called to a local residence responding to a family dispute. Investigation revealed that the complainant – a 55-year-old male from Gananoque – was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for domestic related charges and breach of his probation. The male was arrested without incident and held in custody for a bail hearing.

On February 1st, 2022 & March 18th 2022 The Gananoque Police will be hosting “Public Skate with Emergency Services” to be held at the Gord Brown Memorial Canada 150 Outdoor Rink from noon-2pm. Come out and strap on your skates with members from the Gananoque Police Services, Gananoque Fire and EMS. Emergency Services Vehicles will also be on site for the community to enjoy along with free hot chocolate and Tim Bits

On the weekend of January 28th - 30th, Tim Hortons is supporting Special Olympics (SO) across Canada by selling a very special #ChooseToInclude SO donut. All proceeds from the sales of the donuts will be donated to Special Olympics Canada. To kick start the event, on Friday January 28th from 8am-10am, members with the Gananoque Police Service will be at Tim Hortons to help promote the event and collect donations.

Gananoque Police Service’s Strategic Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.)

With a new year comes renewed energy and new initiatives, but unlike those quickly-made, quickly-broken resolutions, the Gananoque Police Service will be implementing the Strategic Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) for 2022 – a previously utilized and successful initiative.

Through education and enforcement, the Service’s goal is to show our commitment to keeping our community roadways safe for drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.

Each month, two traffic safety priorities (or themes) will be highlighted for additional enforcement as well as Seatbelt Campaigns, a Commercial Vehicle Blitz, Bike Roadeo, Operation Impact and Canadian Road Safety Week.

Gananoque Police conducted a traffic stop on a known suspended driver. As a result of this traffic stop a 53yr old male from Gananoque was arrested. During the arrest a quantity of crystal meth was located on the male. The male was transported to the station for processing. While police were releasing the male, he began uttering threats to police and was subsequently re-arrested for the new offence. The male was charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 substance, Utter Threats, Resist Arrest, and multiple Highway Traffic Act offences. The male will appear in court on a later date.

The Gananoque Police responded to a call involving a possible stolen vehicle. Investigation revealed that the vehicle was taken from a dealership in Smiths Falls where a 28yr old male and a 39yr old female were arrested for possession of property obtained by crime. Further investigation revealed that the two had taken a vehicle from a Kingston dealership and drove it to Smiths Falls where the second vehicle was taken. Both were charged and released by three different police services with an upcoming Court date.

On December 27th, 2021, police were called to a local residence where a 34-year-old Gananoque man was found to be breaching conditions of two separate probation orders. The male had attended the residence contrary to conditions of his probation and was refusing to leave.   Officers arrested the male without incident, and he was held in custody. He was charged for being Unlawfully in a Dwelling, two counts of Probation Order – Non-Compliance and was held for a bail hearing.
